PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - armstrongsubero - 12-30-2018 Could someone walk me through the PLA process? Do I have to do the PLA-100 and PLA-200 courses? I was asking because I was thinking of doing a PLA for data structures. However I saw that if I do Calc II at Straighterline since I already bought it and Geometry at Study.com I will only need 12 credits to complete a BA in Mathematics! Any ideas how I can PLA these courses: Calc III Linear Algebra 2 UL math courses I'm thinking easy ones: History of Mathematics and Mathematics Modelling or Differential Equations How does the PLA work, especially for math classes? Any ideas!? Thanks... RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - mysonx3 - 12-30-2018 You can't PLA math, unfortunately (though there are "certain exceptions") https://www.tesu.edu/degree-completion/pla-and-portfolio-faqs RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - armstrongsubero - 12-30-2018 Sigh, thanks. Guess I'll have to pay for those if I want it. Its hard to see you'll 12 credits away from a degree and cant get it easily.. RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - mysonx3 - 12-30-2018 How many classes are you intending to do at TESU? If you're already taking three (from your other posts, I think I remember you needing Intro to Programming, Data Structures and the Capstone?) then you can basically get two more for free (the tuition is offset by not paying a residency waiver), which couple get you 1/2 of those 12 credits. Also, I think Coopersmith has an UL math course, but not sure if they allow international students RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - armstrongsubero - 12-30-2018 I already did the capstone, so I have 2 more to do. Intro to Programming and Data Structures. Thanks! I see they have a Concepts in Math and Quantitative Analysis! Is this where you order courses from them? https://coopersmith-career-consulting.fwscheckout.com/MAT__3-credit_Math_Course/p5563188_18568324.aspx I see they use proctorU so I dont think that would be a problem. Did anyone transfer this into TESU? Does it come in as UL? Hmm if I can do this course then its just 3 I need to do for the math degree. So thats 5 courses in total again at TESU for a BA in Math and BA in Computer Science. If I can cut that down to 4 will be awesome! RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - mysonx3 - 12-30-2018 Just remember that doing 4 courses at TESU is more expensive than 5, because of the residency waiver. RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - armstrongsubero - 12-30-2018 @mysonx3 Oh I will have the 16 credits to avoid it paying it if I do 4 more. With the cornerstone and capstone I already did that gave me 4. And the 4 courses will make up 12 giving me the 16 I need! I hope I can shave the off somewhere. RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - mysonx3 - 12-30-2018 Ah I see, I thought you were including the capstone when you said 4 or 5. I know APUS has some UL math. $810 for a course. Not too cheap but a little cheaper than TESU RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - armstrongsubero - 12-30-2018 Hmm $810 is still steep, I'm also looking at Statistics.com they have courses for $549! I may get them for $500 since they have a code running. They have quite a bit of UL math courses, though it seems I'll have to wait to do the interesting ones. I wonder if anyone did courses with them? RE: PLA Mathematics Help and Advice - mysonx3 - 12-30-2018 You'll probably want to check with advising about the Statistics.com courses, I think I remember seeing that some of their classes that sound like math don't count towards the Math AoS. I could be mistaken, but might want to check |
