Approximation of evaluated credits transferred at TESU? - pws - 05-01-2019
I'm trying to better understand TESU's process of evaluating credits. From what I understand, if a course is say 4.5 credits, TESU will probably evaluate it as 3 credits, in line with one of their similar courses. However, what happens if an exact same course that is given at TESU—nearly the same syllabus and course material (say Introduction to Psychology, for example)—is evaluated as 1.5 credits by an evaluation company? And if there is a course that was evaluated as 5.5 credits by a credit evaluation company, can it transfer in at TESU as 4 or 4.5 credits?
Also, what happens when you get a 2-credit course in say Understanding the Physical & Natural World?

TESU does not "decide" how many credits to give. If a course is 4.5cr (on a semester-based system), then they will give 4.5cr for it. Normally, what happens though is that a course that's 4.5cr is from a quarter-based school, and they convert it to semester-based, which would be 3cr.
If a course is evaluated as 1.5cr, they'll give you 1.5cr for it.
If a 2cr science course comes in, you'll need 2+ credits in another course to fulfill that area.

If you haven't already taken these courses (quarter hours) my recommendation is that you find a college that uses semesters. It's not a huge credit loss in every situation, but TESU sometimes "rounds up" allowing you to meet a requirement even if it's not 3, but for any class you take under 4.5 you risk having to take more classes to meet a deficiency. Plus it's a PITA.
