Georgia Mayor Allegedly Eliminated Job Candidate for Being Black - sanantone - 05-08-2019

Mayor Theresa Kenerly of Hoschton, GA allegedly told a city council member that job candidate Keith Henry was great for the city administrator position, but the city wasn't ready for a black employee. The city is under 4% black. The mayor denies making these comments, but City Councilman Jim Cleveland defended her saying that he doesn't think the city is ready for a black employee. Then, he went on this bizarre tangent about how he has black friends, but interracial marriage makes his blood boil because it goes against his Christian beliefs. Oh, and two city council members, who are Republican just like the mayor is, said that she issued a tearful apology in private, so she's likely lying about not making the comment.

A constituent showed Cleveland a picture of her daughter and son-in-law; they're an interracial couple. Cleveland's response:

Quote:“I don’t believe in that,” Cleveland responded. “I don’t disrespect it — I promise you I don’t, I’m not racist, but I don’t believe in interracial marriage, and that’s the end of that story.”

You can't claim that this is a hoax! If you think this is rare, I recently learned that there are taxpayers in Texas who refuse to work with black IRS employees.
