Algebra and Statistics - Dowew - 05-10-2019

Hi guys, my friend is almost done his BSBA.  He has only Algebra and Statistics left along with the capstone.  He is using study.com.  He has completed all the quizzes on Algebra but scored in the high 60s after the exam was completed, so he will have to redo that exam.

Now he seems to have hit a wall with Statistics.  He was going great until the second half of the course which involved a lot of algebra and hes lost.

Anybody have any suggestions ?  Are there any study guides you guys can suggest to get thru SDC statistics and pre-Calculus Algebra ?  are any of the other providers like aleks considered easier or more intuitive ?

Hes so close to the end and this seems to have gotten him into a funk.  Its like hes hit a wall.

don't know anything about study.com, but I always thought this was the best explanation of standard deviation that I've seen

maybe understanding the concepts better will help your friend

School yourself is free and is great for algebra. Last I checked their statistics was incomplete but may still be helpful.

Why not try to take the CLEP and DSST exams for these two courses? Just study some exam prep materials for a while and take a shot at it.

Thought I'd also mention Khan academy. It may be easier to find specific explanations and tutorials on the specific subjects and problem types that your friend is struggling with.

I agree that he may want to try other things. Testing may be easier than a course (or it might not).

For College Algebra, he can try CLEP or Saylor
For Stats, he can do a DSST or Saylor

He can also try learning for free on Khan Academy; Annenberg Learning has a free stats course: http://learner.org/resources/series65.html?pop=yes&pid=3135#program_descriptions

He might want to hire a tutor. Some concepts are very hard to teach yourself.
