Help/Guidance with degree plan in Data Analytics/Data Mgmt. - beautifulpsalms - 07-10-2019
It has been a few years since I last posted seeking guidance on a degree plan.
Since then I have completed certs and no college credit courses.
I am now seeking help with developing a BS degree plan majoring in Data Analytics or equivalent based on what I have accomplished since my last post.
Online Degree Preference: BS Degree in Data Analytics or equivalent
Transfer Destination: Open to recommendations
Timeframe: quickest but I understand this is based on credits still needed
Cost: affordable, reasonable

- English 110 Writing Seminar I
- English 111 Writing Seminar II

OTHER:
- Considering registering for the upcoming Udacity Business Analytics Nanodegree

If you go through WGU for the degree, the Udacity Nanodegree is included in the cost.

If you are in the US and a US Citizen/PR, I second the notion of going for the WGU degree, especially when you mentioned you would like to get the Udacity Nanodegree as that is one thing I also recommend people to take as well. If you're overseas or in Canada, then I suggest going for the TESU BS Data one instead, as WGU doesn't accept international students (they recently stopped accepting Canadians, I think since Aug 2018).

Thank you for pointing that out. I printed materials today and saw that it was included. Nice surprise to see that.
I already submitted a request for my transcripts to be sent to WGU for evaluation.
Now I am just going down the WGU course list and trying to match the equivalent online courses (CLEP, Saylor, etc.) I can take.

TESU offers credit for the CAPM designation. They offer 6 UL hours -
MAN 437 - Effective Project Management
MAN 435 - Project Management
Complete the CAPM between 05/01/2011 and 05/31/2011 and submit for credit. Use the OAPWL form located at:

If anyone is willing, I do need help planning out the BSDM/DA degree at WGU, specifically equivalencies. My official start date is set for August 2020 to allow time to knock out some Gen Ed's.
With Sophia.org offering a list of free courses until 7/31/2020, which ones will WGU accept?
Best for math courses?
As an update, the transfer eval from WGU only accepted 2 of the 9 courses from NU. Was a bit bummed that Comm 205 did not meet Intro to Communication. 2 of 3 Certs are not within required years.

Hey there OP - I think there isn't any transfer equivalency for WGU and Sophia, yet! (I checked both sites and there isn't any showing). However, WGU should accept most RA/NA and ACE credits available for transfer, it's strange that the English 110 wasn't transferred in and English 111 came in as English Comp I. I noticed you have a few courses, I usually recommend completing 90 or so credits BEFORE enrolling at WGU. You should delay enrollment and complete as many credits or up to 90 before enrolling.
Email WGU academic advisor directly and ask if you can take any ACE credits from Sophia.org - If there is an option for you to delay your start date, you may want to complete as many of these FREE courses along with ALEKS/CSMLearn for your math requirements. If for some reason they haven't gotten a transfer equivalency or will not accept them, then your best bets are to get some credits cheap from StraighterLine/Study.com - review StraighterLine/Study.com info on WGU's site: https://partners.wgu.edu

Stay far, far away from the Oracle Certs, both the SQL and Oracle DB Admin.
MCSA SQL Development
70-461 Querying Microsoft SQL should cover C170 Data Management Foundations
MCSA SQL should cover C175. For whatever reason you can split it in two for two differnt certs.
You can probably put that MCSA to any of the 3 required SQL courses. Just make sure Oracle SQL is take care of by one of them or Study.com CS204. The MTA Database cert is super easy and can fill one of the slots. You'll probably be able to cover all of them pretty simple.
Database Server C755 would be something to take the CIW Database Design specialist for. Orace DB Admin is going to slaughter you time wise.
Saylor CS101 Intro to CS and CS107 C++ Programming are actually reall good options for the lower level programming coures, and you can supplement them with Code Academy and a good Java video. Make two Saylor account and keep tabs on how you are scoring before taking the proctored one. MTA Software Development is good if your from Microsoft land and use C#.
That's somewhere just over 23-27 credits if I'm estimating that right and avoids the most time consuming of the courswork. Whatever you do, do not take the Oracle. It's long and terrible and why learn it if you are a SQL Server guy?
