College Composition - FishNDip - 09-16-2019
So I had taken Clep College Composition before and didn't pass, I tried doing APA format. The problem was the pages didn't split so I had to decide when the next page was and when to put the heading and number. Also I would have to split every line for spacing. I'm wondering if it's worth doing APA style since it slows you down? Does the amount of words matter? I was pretty rushed for time last test I took of College Composition and barely finished with an ending sentence and no time to review what I had wrote. Any suggestions to pass this time would be very helpful!

Curious what you mean by "the pages didn't split so I had to decide when the next page was and when to put the heading and number". Also you mentioned splitting every line for spacing. I got my score (67) back for the test late last week and I definitely didn't do any of what you just mentioned. I'd say don't worry about it. Then again I also kind of disregarded other potentially useful advice like take a few minutes to write an outline. I've also been a pretty decent writer and test taker, so maybe I just got lucky but what I did for the essay citations was generally along the lines of "According to Locke (2008) in his book Neverland...".

Try and see if you can go through some essays which have made the cut. That might help. There's plenty of online help too if you require any. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be fine.

I've never heard that you have to do APA style formatting - I think it's simpler than that (although I could be wrong).

Well, if you've used Microsoft Word before you can only put so many words on one page before it makes another one. Did you use any style of writing? Or did you just go, Title, name, essay? And references at the end for the second test of course.

Note that it does not mention APA, MLA, Chicago, or any other citation/formatting style at all during the section of the link you provided having to do with the essay portion of the exam. So it seems that stuff is mostly important for the multiple choice section, not the essay section.
I'm not sure if things have changed, but when I took the exam (this was a couple years ago), I just made an in-text reference to my sources (e.g. "According to a survey by Jones...."), and didn't write a reference list or do any other formatting (other than indenting the start of a new paragraph). I passed with a 63.

That sounds incredible easy, -_- Lol. So how about if I just make my test look like this...?

When doing the second test, where you must cite to sources you can make "an in-text
reference" to your sources, according to mysonx3. So don't worry about APA or MLA!
It's not necessary and it slows you down.
