LUO transfer ACE credit earned in high school (homeschool) - telliott2002 - 09-30-2019

Hi, I am new here and searched but I didn't see an answer to this question. I am a homeschooled high school senior. I am planning on enrolling in LUO next fall for a BS in Information Technology - Web & Mobile Programming. By March I will have earned 60 credits, 57 ACE and 3 NCCRS but different sources.

I emailed Liberty to ask how many ACE credits I can transfer in to see if I need to vary my sources for the classes I haven't taken yet. I received a reply yesterday saying I could transfer all 57 ACE credits. It was just a question to their transfer department, not a transcript evaluation, so they didn't have a list of my classes or anything. I know that nothing is set in stone until I officially enroll and get a transcript evaluation, so I'm not trusting this too much.

I don't handle the pressure of CLEP/DSST tests well, so online classes are the way to go for me.

My question is: Has anyone successfully transferred 57 ACE credits into Liberty University Online if they were earned in high school?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Here are my classes (I'm not counting the 1 vocational credit in case they don't take it):

ALEKS: College Algebra (3)
The Institutes: Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct (2)
Saylor: Intro to Computer Science 1 (3 NCCRS)
Sophia: The Essentials of Managing Conflict (1)
            Developing Effective Teams (1)
            English Comp 1 (3)

This may help:  It's a link to Jennifer's site about Liberty.  It gives the cost analysis and, if you scroll down, several links about Liberty.  Hope that helps!

I know LUO pretty well, and I can tell you that the issue isn't whether they will take your courses, but rather do they fit into the degree plan. They usually don't have a ton of space for electives.

Also, if you didn't already know, if you take any of their Online Academy courses for about $550 each, they count as residency credit. It's worth doing, especially for courses you can find there but not elsewhere.

Also, don't forget to ask for the 15% discount when you enroll next year, they give it for Sophia and SL courses.

I have known of people that have transferred in 75% of their degree to Liberty, using mostly ACE credit.  Their transfer policies are awesome.  Dfrecore is right, concentrate on the general education and as many credits within the degree as you can get.

Good luck!

Thank you, especially for the 15% discount info. I didn't know if that applied to me!

I made a spreadsheet with my degree plan and have been filling it in with classes that will work according to their course equivalency charts.  I just wasn't sure about their ACE credit limit since their website seems to say it counts as PLA and has a 30 credit cap. I didn't know if that was 30 from each source or 30 altogether.

For now, I guess I'll just keep up the classes and hope that they take all of them!

Thank you! That is exactly the info I was looking for. Someone else who had transferred that many ACE credits!

Congratulations!! That is the exact approach I would take if my teen wanted to attend LUO. We'd max the credit transfer and then apply for scholarships like it's a job. Good luck!!
