Online Graduate Music Courses - Nivondu - 10-15-2019

Howdy hive mind,

You were all very instrumental (lol) in helping me figure out a way to complete my BA in Music through TESU. I have been totally over the moon, but now I would like to research a way to get my MM through online methods.

I'd like to be able to get it at as low cost as possible. The best I have found so far is Tarleton State University (36 hours) at about $20k - That's too rich for my blood.

I live in Texas so that might be a consideration. I don't know if there are test out ways into graduate credits? That would be fine with me.

Thanks in advance,

It's been a few years now, but I spent a bit of time researching this for my brother. Online grad degrees in anything music are tough - there just aren't a lot of them. At the time, I could only find 3-4 (I'm sure there are more now) but throwing in the filter of under 20k probably makes this a very big challenge imo.

Of course Berklee has a few options (not cheap) https://online.berklee.edu/music-degrees

Also try searching PhD. At the time that I conducted my search, the PhD option seemed to offer several hybrid experiences, so that might be something to consider.

What kind of program are you looking for? There are many online programs in music education. There are fewer in composition and music technology.

Music Ed would be fine. Theory or comp would be fine too.
Mostly though looking to see if there are alternate ways to get these grad credits.

Unless you can find music education courses from VESi, PBS Teacherline, Advanced Courses, and similar teacher education websites, there really aren't any alternative ways to earn graduate credits. Some schools award graduate credits for certifications, but these are in business and IT.

Might be too late, but this thread discussed North Dakota's cheap graduate credit in music ed: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-NDSU-1-Online-Music-Graduate-Credit-75
