How come some universities dont put what you studied on the degree? - missbootyfull - 10-28-2019

I just wondered why some put it and others dont? Like it would say "bachelors of arts" only and not the subject you studied. Or do most not put it?

most don't. I think a few have started to, but traditionally for hundreds of years, the diploma only says bachelor's of ______. Your transcript is your record of what courses you took, your major/minor/concentration/etc.

The diploma is a ceremonial document. I would guess it's a lot easier and cheaper if there are only a few variations on how they are printed.

It's similar to graduating from high school - the diploma is generic, the transcript is what's used to show all the courses you took. Same in College.
