Grand Canyon University denied non-profit conversion. Remains as a for-profit college - Windywing - 11-13-2019

Education Department says the Arizona university remains a for-profit, a surprising decision that may dump cold water on other nonprofit conversion bids.

It's all about financial aid. That's where they make their money. It's not exactly a cheap school either especially since most of it is online only.

I have friends whose kids go there (on-campus).  With the ability to make a deal, it's cheaper than going to a CA CSU-system school): $12k/yr for tuition, room and board vs. $7500/yr for tuition, and then roughly $13k/yr for room and board (depending on where you go).

$470/cr for online is less than TESU or EC, and MANY other online schools.  MANY.

I mean, their big plan to be a non profit was to create a second, for profit business of the same name that they would outsource most of their services to and funnel their "non-profit" money to. Oh and the CEO of the for profit business and president of the college were the exact same person.

Just an FYI.
