Univ of Sunderland UK Masters - Online - bjcheung77 - 04-07-2020

Hey all, I was looking at this university and noticed they have an Online AACSB MSC in Management in the UK (No Bachelors Required) for $7800 UK Pounds which is roughly $9,625 USD.  The kicker for this is, it doesn't require a Bachelors degree, you just need to have 3-5 years of experience in your field.  They have 4 concentrations to choose from General, Finance, HR, or Marketing.

MSC Management Link: https://online.sunderland.ac.uk/online-course/msc-management/
Note: These are traditional programs which mean they are 24 months long, not the quick competency-based programs.

I would say this would be comparable but slightly more expensive than the programs available from the MOOC providers.
If AACSB is what you're looking for, this is a pretty good program.  If you want a fast degree by test out, then HW Masters are your ticket.

BTW, HW doesn't have AACSB - HW Link: https://www.ebsglobal.net/about-us/accreditation

My wife got her Bachelor's from them (she's from Sunderland)

I had no idea they offered an online-only Master's degree, I will definitely check this out. Thanks

Thank you for this post.  I'm wondering the following:

What's the value of this type of degree at this point?
Does it offer any opportunities for a student visa in the UK?
How's the degree looked at in America?
Does it transfer to the equivalent of an American Master degree?
How are the classes conducted? Zoom and video conferencing or the plain ol post in a forum approach?
Do graduates qualify for the two year visa program for the UK after degree completion?

1) Not everyone wants an MBA as those are a dime a dozen, some like to specialize in one area of business. These are AACSB business programs with a focus on General Management, Finance, HR, Marketing.
2) During the time of Coronavirus, hell no - don't go! But yes, if someone wanted, they can try to get a Visa for the UK.
3) It's identical to any Masters AACSB degree from the USA, the only difference is where and how you get it - UK/Online.
4) Yup, same as any AACSB Masters of Science in Management - they don't offer Accounting, but that's one concentration.
5) I'll have to ask or dig deep into what medium they use for teaching, but again, it's all online so...
6) I'm not sure you want to go there after two years, but that's for studying for another graduate degree, you can see if they help with immigration for those degrees that do require onsite visitations or residency for the "hard" sciences for example.

I looked at the curriculum and can't make sense of the medium.   If this is a legit option: https://www.studyinternational.com/news/uk-international-students-visa-extension/ (I'll sign up to this masters program)

I was wondering if you know of any other similar Master programs that are more transparent about the process. Seems like Univ of Sunderland hasn't put much of an effort into the details surrounding this program, and 10k is 10k.

Sunder's accreditation page is deceiving. They are only a member of AACSB, not accredited by them.
