Criminal justice advice - Redheaddude - 04-12-2020
Hi everyone. I am currently in school at Eastern Gateway community College and will be graduating with my associate degree in criminal justice. It's free through my union. I want to pursue my bachelor's degree and am curious about options at one of the big three. Any help would be appreciated. I've done all the aleks math courses and analyzing and interpreting literature clep.

Continue criminal justice. I wouldn't mind going to psychology or something similar if it's simpler to do in terms of testing out of things.

I think there's atleast one psychology spreadsheet that'll help you find the courses.

I can't speak much to the Big 3, but if you haven't already, take a look at these TEEX (Texas A&M) courses within Corrections/Forensics/Law Enforcement; they are transferable.
If it fits you, Walden offers a competency-based learning BS degree. With the tuition reduction now, it would be around $1200 per 3-month term. You can view the curriculum on their site.
For transferring in credits, you'll get the same advice about taking cheap/free courses. For example, Sophia offers all their courses for free right now, which would be a great place to start once you've gotten a more solid path in mind.

Penn Foster College is cheap. It is DEAC accredited. If that does not meet your needs most, if not all, of the courses are ACE reviewed and can be transferred to COSC, TESU, or Excelsior if they offer criminal justice degrees. The courses are cheapest if you sign up for complete years or terms. I assume you could complete all the required upper level courses and transfer them.
It might be a good idea to enroll in the school of your choice and get courses pre-approved to guarantee their acceptance.

Your best bet is to email Sanantone. She was very knowledgeable about the Big 3 and CJ degrees. She used to work in CJ.

Wow! All but one of the 300 and 400 numbered CJ courses are approved as lower level by ACE. If you could get full credit for the first 2 years, the program would only cost around $ 4 grand, if it suited your needs. TESU gives upper level credit for some courses approved as lower level by ACE. I am not recommending any action but you don't know unless you ask.
