I took the Sophia Principles of Finance course. It transferred to TESU as FIN-200 Principles of Finance. Great, Thanks! RE: SOPHIA | Principles of Finance to TESU - rachel83az - 10-01-2020 The hardest part about Principles of Finance is that they don't tell you why you got a given question wrong - unlike most other Sophia courses. The only "financial calculator" I used was LibreOffice. They do have instructions on how to do certain calculations with either a graphing calculator or via spreadsheet. I completed it in a couple of days but I'll probably need a refresher before taking a different financial course in the future. RE: SOPHIA | Principles of Finance to TESU - jcooke - 10-01-2020 It was a tough course. Moreso than other finance courses I’ve taken before. I took a month to really go through the course due to a mix of frustration and trying to really learn what I was getting wrong. I wish they would explain what you got wrong like other Sophia courses. I’m just glad it counts and I won’t have to take another finance course ?? RE: SOPHIA | Principles of Finance to TESU - LevelUP - 10-01-2020 The Saylor.org Principles of Finance course allows you to use the http://www.fncalculator.com/ calculator. It seems to work pretty well for the Sophia course. Just really a matter of knowing how a few set of formulas work. Things like: simple/compound interest rates discount rate future/present value of money (TVM Calculator) net present value (NPV) internal rate of return (IRR) total value of assets value of total liabilities rule of 72 (72/years to determine how long double) future value of an annuity Standard Deviation of the Return (stock) market beta Probability (profit outcome) Modigliani-Miller Theorem simple average cost of capital weighted average cost of capital (WACC) capital asset pricing models (CAPM) Not to brag but I got through the Sophia course in one day but finance is my strength so most of the stuff I already knew. Just a matter of filling in the missing pieces on stuff I didn't know and that they were going to test on. |
