Study.com - Lack of Support - jamshid666 - 12-07-2020

First up, I will admit that the initial problem is my fault.  I enrolled in too many courses and now nothing will load when I click on the "My Courses" tab.  I opened a ticket with SDC support over a month ago and they still have not resolved the issue, even with frequent emails asking for status updates.  You'd think this would be a simple SQL script: delete * from enrollments where studentid=myidnumber and proctoredgrade=<null>, modified of course based on how SDC's table structures are laid out and adding whatever joins are necessary.  Yeah, I know this isn't a question and more of me whining, but it's disappointing that they seem to be so lacking in resolving technical support issues.  I bet anything that if I was on a monthly plan instead of a pre-paid annual plan, they'd have it fixed faster, but they are purposely delaying the resolution because they already have my money.

I suspect their support staff probably doesn't have direct access to the database, and for good reason. Most help desk support people aren't familiar with SQL, and there's probably considerable amounts of PII in the database the organization needs to keep secure. Ideally, they'd fix their silly bug and the app wouldn't just crap out.  Rolleyes

Worst case scenario, you could dispute the credit card charge as they recieved the money but are unable to provide the service due to technical limitations on their end. Perhaps even just a threat of doing so might spur them into action if they continue to be unresponsive.

That or file a court case...

Send a private message to Study.com, they're pretty responsive on the board whenever I message them and if you want to see if dfrecore can do anything for you, you can try a private message to her as well. You have much more patience than I do, lol... I would have PM them a few times by now.

Did you try the obvious things?

Such as rebooting your computer, try different browsers, different monitor resolutions. clear cookies?

This won't stop you from enrolling in new courses or taking the courses? It is just the one screen of My Courses right? No need to panic.

Yes, I tried the obvious ones: three different computers with different OSes, five different browsers, as well as the Android app.  I guess the only thing I haven't tried yet is the iPhone app, perhaps I'll give that a try later today.  Sad thing is, I only need it to work one time, then I'd be able to capture the syntax of the POST command when you click on the Unenroll button and I would be able to resolve the issue myself.

I have had the "page won't load" issue happen to me a few times. I can resolve the issue by closing the tab and navigating to SDC in a fresh tab. It's usually an issue with the internet as a whole being slow.

My bet is on 150-300.  You all going to take the high or low?

I've no idea, but someone finally fixed it and dropped me down to 100 courses at some point today, and Study.com processed a one month refund for my troubles.  It was a long month of fighting, but SDC got everything fixed and made me happy.  I'm now going through and deleting more courses to make sure this doesn't happen again.  Just keep things nice and tidy to the specific courses that I plan on hitting within the next 4-6 months and nothing more.

The biggest problem with all this was that since my course list wouldn't load, the webapp was unable to load my list of completed courses for transcript requests.  After today's fix, I was finally able to get my transcript request created to send over to the Credly Acclaim platform.
