New tesu computer science degree plan advice - Pats20 - 12-16-2020
With the new tesu transfer policy guidelines I need to change coarse. These are the courses I still lack for ba computer science.
Tesu sos 110
Tesu capstone
Intro to programming
Data structures
Calculus 1
Discrete math
Operating systems
Computer architecture (upper level)
5 computer science electives. ( 4 must be upper level.
That’s 39 remaining credits.
I currently have 66 ace credits. So I can utilize 24 more. Then the final 15 from ra institutions including tesu.
Any suggestions on the best, fastest, And cost efficient Paths are very much welcomed

Do Coopersmith Linear Algebra (NCCRS), Study.com Systems Analysis & Design, Study.com Computer Architecture, and Study.com Database Management for 12 UL. Also Study.com Operating Systems and Study.com Data Structures for 6 more LL.
Do 16 credits at TESU instead of 15 so that you can avoid paying the residency waiver. Make them LL so they are easier.

I guess one upper level from tesu cause I need 15 upper level credits. And that would make 22 tesu credits counting sos110 And capstone ?

To avoid the residency waiver fee, you should only maximize the amount of credits at TESU to 16 or 18 at most, as their courses are expensive. The other credits if you require RA, should come through other avenues, such as NMJC or TEL Learning as they are one of the cheaper players at the moment, unless you can find a local community college with courses that are cheaper...

It's hard to say without knowing your full degree roadmap, but (and I hate to say this), it may be worth doing these credits via ACE, and redoing some GenEds at a college or uni. Upper elective CS courses are easy to get from SDC. Otherwise, you're going to be paying full cost at a university.
Calculus I you can do at a community college or Outlier.org, and I'll bet you've got some GenEds you could re-do through TEL.
It sucks paying $200 to take a GenEd course you've already taken, but it's probably better than paying $1000 to take an upper level course you could get from SDC for $90.

Yes only do minimal amount at TESU. 16 credits is ideal. Maybe 17 or 18 credits.
There is another UL course from Study.com which people have been using, CIS 301: Management Information Systems.

I agree. Redo some of your general education credits as RA credits. LL Gen Eds are cheap and easy to get (relatively speaking) with RA credits while the UL can be quite costly if you don't use ACE versions. TEL Learning is only $200 a course and ASU EA is $425 but you're looking at $1000+ for CS courses, especially UL ones.

Replacing 8 of your current general eds with TEL Learning or TECEPs for a cost of around $1600 is going to be MUCH less than you'd spend trying to get even just discrete math, calculus, and operating systems from an RA source. Discrete math is around $600 at its cheapest (IIRC), calculus would be $400 from Outlier.org or ASU EA, and I haven't the faintest idea where to get RA Operating Systems.

What RA credits do you have right now? Because I'm only counting 15 in your last post and you need a total of 30 RA credits. 6 will be the capstone/cornerstone and 24 (8 other classes) need to be from anywhere else so long as it is RA.
Also, your three RA classes from ASU and ND self-study are already more than you'd spend on 8 courses from TEL Learning.
