SDC Membership - downgrade or cancel? - Diana321 - 02-08-2021

Hello everyone,

I currently subscribe to study.com's college accelerator plan.  I took my last two proctored exams on 1/24/2021 and today (2/8/2021) and am now waiting for final grading.  My $200 subscription fee will be charged on 2/15/2021 and I'd like to avoid paying it.

Questions:
-  If I get my final grades in before 2/14/2021, I'm going to add them to Acclaim, submit my badges to TESU and then cancel the membership. Any reason why I shouldn't?

-  If final grades do NOT arrive by 2/14/2021, can I downgrade to the premium plan for $70 and still have access to all of my previously-completed courses?  I'm afraid if I cancel any/all access to SDC with exam grades still outstanding, I won't be able to add the badges.

Thanks so much for your help, hope all of you are having/had a good Monday.   Smile

You don't need to have an active membership in order to send transcripts. However, yes, if you downgrade to Premium then you will still have access to everything (except the ability to take more exams!). You might want to go ahead and downgrade to Premium now, just in case. That way you don't pay for another full month of College Accelerator if the change doesn't go through in time for whatever reason. If you downgrade, you're still on College Accelerator until the end of the month.

Ok great, thank you for clarifying for me. And you have a really good point, I’ll go ahead and downgrade it.

Another option you may want to look into is to "pause" the subscription, once in pause - mode it can be up to 3 months - you won't be able to do anything with the account. Basically I used this pause option for essentially working on some other courses at another provider, so for example, you want to work on more Sophia.org courses before taking extra Study.com courses, you can pause your Study.com for up to 3 months and then continue where you left off...

Hmmm....this gives me food for thought.  Their pause feature is fantastic and I've used it quite often.  I don't need any more SDC courses, provided that TESU applies everything in the proper places.  But for extra peace of mind, it may be worth it to downgrade, then pause it while I'm waiting for my grades/eval to be complete.   That way, if I need to resume the membership because something went awry, it'll charge me the $70 rate and not $200. Thanks for reminding me of that option!
