South Texas College - CBE Programs - bjcheung77 - 04-29-2021

South Texas College has several CBE programs that are affordable for in district it's $850 and out of district it's $910.
For out of state, it's roughly $1500 for a 7 week term - I wonder if international students are charged this rate fee.

They also are one of the only CBE programs with AA's and certificates.

Their pricing for in-district is the 3rd cheapest weekly rate of all of them (after Snow College and NAU). Out-of-district is only slightly higher (comes in after UMHB). Even out-of-state is cheaper than Purdue Global & Rasmussen.

I also think that this is entirely test-out, rather than having to write papers: "STC’s Competency-Based Programs can allow you to finish your degree in significantly less time. Students have the option to apply their existing knowledge or experience through examination. Upon successful completion of this exam students can jump ahead to the next course in their degree, all during the same 7 week term and at no additional cost." That's a better option for many people.

looks like international students will get charged out of state rate, $1500/term?

Competency-Based Format Courses Offered during Seven- Week Accelerated Terms* (per Term) (Out-of-State) 1,500.00

ima email them to ask.

I think this is a very comparable program to other CBE's, the benefit for this program is you can technicalyl get 75% of the credits through AP, CLEP, or IB and internal exams, then get the remaining 25% from South Texas College by paying either one term or two and be done with a Bachelors. I hope they expand their CBE offerings in the near future.

dfrecore you are saying that they offer an Associate degree and Certificates, if you pay for a CBE program? where do you read that.

$1500 per 7-week term isn't too bad. It's around the same price as UMPI. And those some good certificates that they're offering there.

I tried enrolling and they wouldnt accept my AAS degrees from a community college in Oklahoma. I have 120 credit hours altogether between them and WGU, and they only allowed like 30 credits to transfer in. None of my ACE credits would transfer, either, and I have Saylor, Sophia, and Straighter line classes.

NOT worth it unless you are starting new. Same for TAMUC. For some reason they don't like Tulsa Community College or WGU. I would have to do a ton of classes again.

I'm doing the Coursera IBM cyber cert now and plan on taking a TEEX program then transferring to TESU or Charter Oak to finish.
