DegreeForum LinkedIn Networking - ashkir - 05-11-2021

Suffice to say, at least in my industry LinkedIns do carry quite a bit of weight when it comes to being hired for a new role and or to be considered for promotion over a resume. Why? The reviews and recommendations. A strong LinkedIn profile can offer a huge foundation for keeping up to date.

Take this opportunity for:
  1. Update your LinkedIn with current and relevant information.
  2. Add your education to it, even if it's not completed, add your school (ex: Thomas Edison State University expected to graduate 2022) etc! You can always edit it later. This shows recruiters that YOU are working on it.
  3. Did you take a Coursera course or something that didn't give credit? Add your certificate!
  4. Ask your friends and family to join LinkedIn and give you "likes" and reviews.
  5. Share your Link here (if you're comfortable with it)
  6. If someone here at DegreeForum you know is an expert in a topic, feel free to leave them a glowing recommendation/review!
If you aren't comfortable sharing yours, please skip this topic Smile

Haha! I don't even have a LinkedIn or a Facebook account, actually I do for both but never even used them...
I just signed up to them to see what was offered... I don't even use any social media at all...

One of the Udacity certs I did makes you update your LinkedIn profile and the teacher grades you on it. Lol I got a 100. I honestly didn't think it looked that great.

Great idea! I do try to keep my LinkedIn up to date. It took a while to get the formatting just right, but I'm pretty happy with it! I've sent you a request to connect, here's mine as well! https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessicaperdue/
