College of DuPage/ Non- western literature - Oulton1 - 11-30-2021

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this college? I’m interested in their Non-Western  Literature course but am trying to figure out the final cost of transferring it to TESU and also, the format of the course.

https://catalog.cod.edu/search/?search=ENGLI+2262+%28H3+908N%29

I think it’s $138 per credit for online but I can’t help but wonder if I’m looking at the pricing wrong.

https://cod.edu/costs/tuition/index.aspx

I am also trying to find the syllabus for this course but just can’t seem to locate it.  Am I to assume until I actually register for the course I won’t be able to see it?

Thank you for your help.

I think it's $138/cr as well - it's common for schools to have a lower price for online courses.

If you want the syllabus, I would email the school. Some schools won't show you the syllabus beforehand unless you contact them.

$138 a credit. No experience with the school, just know the name. Were you aware of SDC’s Non-Western Lit.? It’s on the TESU equivalency list and would’ve cheaper if you got it done in a month.

It's also UL.

Oulton1, are you going for this course because it's RA and you need RA credits? If so, is this the final course, can you see what you have left in your degree plan? I would recommend taking most courses with alternative providers unless you really need the RA credit.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am a aware of the SDC option but am looking for RA credit for this requirement.

My daughter took this course from COD when she was in high school. She enjoyed it. We paid around $400 for the course. The course was online but was not self-paced. It was over 15 or 16 weeks during a regular semester. I don't think it is offered every semester. The professor was excellent (Prof. Avrey, I believe). The deadlines were firm and affected the final grading. The school was easy to deal with even though my daughter was out of state and in high school. She was required to transfer in 5 courses to the school in order to take the class, not sure if that was because she was in high school or not. She transferred in CLEPs for College Algebra, two English Comp Classes, Psychology, and Literature.

The class had 4 books to read, two movies to watch, weekly discussion posts and comments, two midterm essays (750 words each), and a final paper (minimum 1000 words, MLA). She made an A and transferred it to TESU. It transferred in as a lower-level course, she has to get special permission from TESU to take it as a lower-level course, this was 5 years ago.

Books:Things Fall Apart, Waiting for the Barbarians, The God of Small Things, Eva Luna
Two movies: O Kadhal Kanmani and Persepolis
