Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - kt320 - 02-16-2022 Hi all! Thank you for any advice you can give. Your Location: Colorado Age: 52 What kind of degree do you want?: TESU BS Aviation Flight Tech Current Regional Accredited Credits: 3 credits received applied to electives Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: none So, I have all of my AoS and electives complete except the associated math and science: AoS: Statistics Physics I II w lab ( NMJC i expect ) Upper level math Gen Ed: Need to get everything! Currently enrolled in: TESU cornerstone TECEP Meteorology I'm trying to plan ahead for the 16cr resident credits Resident credits: Cornerstone/Capstone 6 Tecep Meteorology 3 ??? 7 I'd like these to be as easy as possible so I can take them in the same term as the Capstone. Otherwise, I'd love to figure out a good strategy for CLEP, Sophia, etc. Do I just knock out all the CLEPs I can first? Study.com? I'm not sure where to start. I'm great at cramming w flashcards and generally good on tests. Sophia and Study.com sound like a good fit too. Im planning on using MountainStates and IC for CLEP. Math, Science and History are easy for me. I love to read, but I hate writing papers! I'm looking for ease rather than cost. ![]() Thank you for any advice! RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - Flelm - 02-16-2022 TECEPs don't count for residency credits unless you're ex-military. It needs to be a full-priced course, either Online, Guided Study, or E-Pack. And although I don't see it, I assume you have pilots licenses? BS Aviation Flight Technology assumes you have Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, and Instrument Pilot, as well as other additional licenses. RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - rachel83az - 02-16-2022 Check https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_General_Education_Requirements_Roadmap for suggested gen ed sources. Remember, you will need at least 30 RA credits for a TESU degree. Capstone & cornerstone are 6 credits. Meteorology is another 3. I would do the CIS-107 ePack, PLA-100, and maybe GOG-230 World Geography at TESU ( https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Thomas_Edison_State_University#Residency ) for your 16 credits. That leaves 15 RA credits to take elsewhere. I would recommend: Stats @ ONU Precalculus @ Arizona State University College Writing I & II @ ONU - you write 1 or 2 papers per course, compared to 3-7 papers per course at Sophia and SDC! If you need 3 more credits, Finite Math @ ONU simply because it should be quick and easy. The rest of your gen eds can come from Sophia. I would recommend Sophia over CLEP because you don't have to schedule exams for Sophia. You just finish the courses as fast as you're able and you only pay $79/mo for this. Check https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sophia.org_Equivalency_List to see which ones have Touchstones (assignments) and go for the ones that have as few Touchstones as possible. RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - allvia - 02-16-2022 Well in this case (which I've never seen before) TESU actually tells you which Sophia courses fit where - https://www.tesu.edu/alpa/bsast-degree-in-aviation-flight-technology. This is great! I didn’t think to look at the ALPA page. Thank you! Now im trying to figure out if tecep counts for RA? And yes, I have all my certificates needed and then some. Would it be possible for you to either screenshot or PDF your academic evaluation and post it to a reply here? It maybe easier to view what courses have been taken so we don't recommend the same thing again. Depending on what you currently have - If you're missing some credits for general education, CLEP/MS or Sophia.org is recommended for lower level and Study.com for upper level. I haven't seen an email request to activate. I added the pdf to my original post. But it's nearly EMPTY. The only thing not on it that I'm waiting for are my FAA certificates. Which will fill out all the requirements in AoS except the math and science and I will have more than enough for all electives, both AoS and General. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks! kt320 RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - carrythenothing - 02-17-2022 (02-16-2022, 06:26 PM)kt320 Wrote: Thank you, you’re right. I had that confused. RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - bjcheung77 - 02-17-2022 @kt320, I should have known it would be somewhat blank. For your gen eds, you should again get everything from Sophia.org as it's just $79/month all you can take (two courses at a time). If you're close to a test center, doing the English CLEP using ModernStates.org for the voucher is another recommendation. Create a spreadsheet and use these links below to "plug in" the requirements. Then reply back with a link to your spreadsheet. Save it to onedrive or google drive, have the link view only, so we can recommend changes... Here's an example template I had for 2021 - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19v67VXKpNSeHCqYszJN6HEX0yfaKEi69ZGa5eaFurS4/edit?usp=sharing Link: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Compiled_List_of_Courses_and_Corresponding_Tests Link: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sophia.org_Equivalency_List Link: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_General_Education_Requirements_Roadmap RE: Need help with course strategy for BS in Aviation Fli - kt320 - 02-23-2022 (02-17-2022, 12:43 AM)bjcheung77 Wrote: @kt320, Account not Activated - Interesting, this is the first time I've seen an account not activated and you're able to post... Im not sure how to 'add' the forum as a person to share with. I don't think it's view only either. I have the original in another program, I'm ok if this gets adjusted.
