Petersons and IC...HELP! - mdd0401 - 05-22-2008 As I have said in a couple of other posts...I have been studying IC all day everyday since last Wednesday. I thought I knew the material pretty good. Today I took two out of three of the Peterson's Practice tests and I am NOT happy with my scores (37 and 48). Most of the questions on the first test I have never heard of. Processes and definitions that weren't on IC. I plan to study the Peterson's tests tonight before my clep tomorrow...but I think I am in trouble. I guess what I am trying to ask is this : Are the questions on the actual clep exam more like IC or like Peterson's? I have learned so much using IC...but for some reason I couldn't make the right connections while I was taking Peterson's. Someone please help.... Petersons and IC...HELP! - Lindagerr - 05-22-2008 One thing I have learned is it is REALLY important to read the question well. Sometimes a well placed not or except can change the whole thing. Did you look at the results of your petersons and check what you got wrong? In my experience the real test are a combination of the two just all multiple choice. Good Luck Petersons and IC...HELP! - knucyt - 05-22-2008 mdd0401, Since this exam is really important (critical?) to you - at least it sounded like that on your earlier post: "I am going to start my intern for P-4 Early Childhood Education in August...IF I can pass this biology CLEP test! " What is your deadline to pass? If you fail, is there another test you can substitute? If not, and you have to designate your P-4 program to get the grade from this Biology exam, then you may have to wait 6 months before you can take it again - that's the usual CLEP/DSST procedure. If you have a little more time and absolutely cannot substitute another test (in other words you cannot afford to fail) then you might want to consider a few more days of studying and postpone tomorrow's exam to next week. REA and Petersons tests are often harder (but not all) than the actual CLEP but most IC'ers wait until they can score at least a minimum of 50 or greater before moving on to the actual test (you are close with the 48 - was that the second practice test you took? - if so you did improve by more than 10 points!). The practice scores you are comfortable with depends on the type of test taker you are. As Linda suggested, go back and read the answer/explanation to every Peterson question and that will fill in the gaps/clarify for you. After you have done that and understand the Peterson material (again it depends which test you are taking), then try the 3rd practice test and let us know how you do. You should also think about what type of test taker you are and what you are comfortable doing. Some people here can wing it and pass with only scoring 50's or even less on Peterson's, and some of us don't take the exam until we can score at least a 65-70/100 on Peterson's....it's all about what you are comfortable with and how important the exam is to you. You probably should follow your gut feel if this is the only exam you can take to start your new school program. You can pass it! Petersons and IC...HELP! - mdd0401 - 05-22-2008 I was trying to save myself time and money by taking this clep test. Friday is the last day I can take it because that is the day I have to finalize my bill for the summer semester for college. Classes start next Tuesday and I am already enrolled in an A&P class. If I don't pass the clep test then I will have to take Anatomy and Physiology to substitute it and I will have to drive an hour and a half every morning for a class at 8. If I pass the clep then I can drop A&P and focus on my other class. My main problem is that I haven't had a science class since the 9th grade and even then it was an easy class where we goofed off....Wish I would have known then what I know now!). Since I don't have a strong background with science I am pretty much having to start from scratch (with IC). I have seen where everyone posts that they passed the clep tests with only IC...so I was going to try. When I took that Peterson's test though, Whew! I felt so stupid. Is there a way to retake the peterson's after you have studied it for a while? |
