If you already have a degree do you still need to do a language if you have the GED waiver?

Do you already have a bachelor's degree from the US? A GED waiver? GED as in the high school equivalency? Or the GEC?

And only because you mention history in your signature, but at UMPI language requirements can also come from courses and not just the GEC. The BA History requires 6 units of foreign languages, for example. Although its not a requirement with the business focused areas...

6 credits of the same language as well for History/Poli Sci majors.

That's right, you should really look at what courses are required for the second degree. Your first goal hasn't been completed yet, it's great to finish that first degree and then look at the second one or move over to a Masters instead. Depending on your goal and subjects you're looking into studying, I would make sure the requirements are met for both degrees by creating a spreadsheet of required courses.

I already have a degree from the UK, that's why I'm asking this. UMPI could well be cheaper than EU, just no good at languages so if I can get away with not doing any then that's good. I suppose because we don't have GEC in the UK, I'd be required to do a language anyways.
I may just try Spanish as Sophia and see how I do.

I'm curious about how this works. UMPI has this information about a second degree:

Students who have already earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, other than UMPI, will receive a waiver of UMPI’s General Education Curriculum requirements. This waiver will be noted on the student’s academic record during the transfer credit evaluation process.
Does this mean that the more challenging courses like foreign language and science lab (and Eng 121) are not required? How would I determine which additional courses would be required?

For the degrees that require 6 foreign language credits, I think the foreign language requirements are NOT part of the GEC. For other degrees, foreign language is part of the GEC and would be waived. If you just wanted a BABA after your COSC GS degree, the entire GEC should be waived.

Has your degree been evaluated by WES? International degrees are not guaranteed to be viewed as bachelor's degrees in the US. I would get the evaluation completed by WES before making any plans. If it's considered a bachelor's in the US, then you're waived from the GEC. If it's not viewed as such, then you're not waived from the GEC.

So there is no real point in getting my degree evaluated if I still have to do the language. I've completed the rest of the GEC already (I think).
UMPI would be cheaper than EU in the long run, I may just try the Sophia Spanish and see how I get on.
