Self-paced online courses from University of North Dakota (UND) - Pikachu - 09-01-2022

University of North Dakota (UND) Online offers a great number of self-paced courses - a total of 125 as of today. Of those 125 there are around 20-30 that have no/negligible prerequisites. They are on the expensive side, wtih each credit costing ~$380. 

Some of the self-paced courses they have that I haven't seen elsewhere:
  • Geography, geology, chemistry, biochem, anatomy alongwith their lab (labs are a separate 1 credit course)
  • Linear Algebra
  • Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III
  • Discrete Mathematics
  • Differential Equations
  • Statistics
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Norwegian (yes, Norwegian!)
On GeorgiaTech's OMSCS subreddit I've seen people with unrelated bachelors or sub-par GPA get into OMSCS after doing Linear Algebra and Discrete Math. So, while the courses are expensive (~$1.1k for 3-credit course), they can be used to bolster your admission application to other programs.

One of the negatives of UND is that for international students they demand proof of English proficiency before you can enroll in any course. Fortunately, they accept the Duolingo exam in addition to the usual IELTS/TOEFL/PTE.

Yes, if you want to get into top school's Master of Science in CS program, you'll need to take below undergrad-level math courses:

- Linear Algebra
- Calculus I
- Calculus II
- Calculus III / Multi-variable Calculus
- Discrete Mathematics
- Statistics

Without these, they won't let you in...
Also, you need to take undergrad-level Java or C++ programming courses.

If you choose to do Master of Science in Information Systems, you won't be required to take advanced math to get in.

If one wants a math degree, $380/cr. is cheaper than TESU. Not by much, but still cheaper.

SNHU is $320/cr, and they take 90cr of ACE. I think a full math degree there would end up costing less than TESU ($9600 for 30 graded credits).

New York University barely mentions math -- all they mention is Discrete Math

the real killer per-requisite is #4

The minimum prerequisite background for admission to the MS program consists of:
  1. Languages: Deep working knowledge of C and familiarity with object-oriented concepts and work with some object-oriented language such as Java or C++.
  2. Data structures and mathematics: Understanding and working knowledge of pointers, lists, stacks, queues, trees, arrays and recursion; induction, order of magnitude growth, probability and elementary combinatorics, set notation.
  3. Working familiarity with windows and Unix.
  4. Knowledge of assembly language (e.g. Intel or Motorola) sufficient to understand self-modifying code.

They also require high GRE math score:

"Strong GRE Quantitative and Analytical scores. (Typical acceptable scores are near 160 for the quantitative section or 4.0 or better on the new Analytical Writing section.) "

Is this presuming you only take RA math classes? Because TESU's math degree can be done almost entirely with alt credit. The only math class you have to take in the 16 cr term is Calc 3..

Plan above already has 12 UL, only actually need 1 more plus capstone. SDC has a couple CS UL courses in case you wanted to dual-AOS Math/CS. LL CS courses can be got free from Coursera in the free trial window for some of the shorter IBM certs (i.e. R, Python).
