They use Prometric as their remote proctor. Students are suggested to read this guide before scheduling their first ProProctor (Prometric) exam: https://www.prometric.com/sites/default/files/2019-10/PrometricProUserGuide.pdf

I seem to recall others having issues with Prometric in the past. More serious issues than when using ProctorU. Please share your experiences with Prometric and/or the online DSSTs.

I will see if I can test one soon. Hopefully this works well for others since It would have really helped me years ago.

This was mentioned earlier in another thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Initial-Saylor-exam-test-experiment?pid=380611#pid380611
My reply post was regarding CLEP proctor testing, I don't know how well it's going to be for DSST testing though.  Hopefully the system they use is stable and there are no data/privacy breaches in their history.  But my advice is pretty much the same as I mentioned for CLEP, if you are OK with it, go and give it a try!

I have a test scheduled for next week and cost was $100

Does anyone know free resources for preparing for these DSST exams? I know a few young people that may be interested.

I'm not sure if all of them are covered, but http://www.free-clep-prep.com/dantes-exams.html has some/most.

Not free, but InstantCert is pretty cheap and has study materials for a few DSST exams.

I had the best luck with Instacert. I went to the website and checked out the registration process, and even here in Asia, it was very easy to register. I have four exams I'm starting to prep for! Very exciting stuff! Does anyone have any coupon codes? I used to use some back in the day for about 5 dollars off.

I was specifically thinking anything I might be able to convince the local corrections center to give inmates access too, which is why free would be good. What about inexpensive books that could be sent from Amazon?

Both CLEP and DSST are textbook non-specific - meaning you can find all kinds of inexpensive, even old, used textbooks out there to learn the material and then take the exam.  The exams are not based on any single textbook.  So find whatever you can, and take them to the local corrections center if you want.
