The Home Stretch - Blckbuster - 10-27-2022

Hey everyone,

I just got off a video conference verifying my degree plans line up and assuming I pass everything I will be graduating in March with BSBA IS and BACS from TESU after starting with a GED and some certs in November.

I have to finish ANT101, PSY103, HIS113, and MAR101 at Greenville Technical College (I passed midterms last week)
And I have to pass my two capstones, software engineering and PLA200 (which I'm retaking because I screwed it up last time) these classes start Nov 1.

I have this forum and the fantastic members to thank for the support and guidance that got me to this point.

I'm going to Trenton to walk in Sept, so if anyone will be there I'll buy you a drink!

Thank you all again

I'd suggesting actually getting a drink in Lawrenceville, Princeton, or Hamilton, assuming you're not from the area. Although, some parts of Trenton aren't that bad...

I'm in! Your treat... let me get my drinking glasses... oh wait, I don't drink! Oh well, coffee will do...

We like school drama here. What happened that caused you to retake the TESU courses?

I would suggest using RateMyProfessor to pick your professors, so there is less drama.

Do you mean PLA-100?  PLA-100 is a 1 cr course that lasts one month. PLA-200 is 2 credits.

Do you mean PLA-100?  PLA-100 is a 1 cr course that lasts one month. PLA-200 is 2 credits.

I started this process before doing much reading here (big mistake - don't be like me)
Leading off with a term at TESU: SOS-110 because it was a requirement, PLA-100 and 200, because I've been working for 25 years so I'm sure I'll have lots of easy credits there (Also a mistake unless you want to write a great deal) plus two classes for fun that I was interested in; CTR-211 Electronic Instrumentation & Controls, and CTR-212 Programmable Logic Controllers.

I chose to start this at the peak time of my company's business and just before traveling for the holiday (during which I was still working)

Another thing I did not research was the length of the PLA courses. Together they take as long as a full course when taken consecutively, but when taken concurrently, the shorter PLA-100 was over by Christmas, and the longer PLA-200 was half over.

I dove into the courses I liked and the SOS-100 requirement and did Sophia at the same time and was addicted, I did almost ever Sophia class they offer, and I left the PLA for last because I heard they were easy.

...and I missed almost all the deadlines on 100 and half of them on 200 and learned the best lesson of all, correctly organizing my time to match my syllabi.

Having tanked my grades I retook the 100 taking my F to an A with the same papers, etc (having taken the same instructor and making sure he wouldn't charge me with plagiarizing myself)

and I'm doing the same with 200 now to go from a C+ to (hopefully) an A

Ouch! That's an expensive lesson to learn.

Sounds like you're on track to get everything turned around, so good luck!

Man, I feel like an addict. Once I thought I was all done with my plan, I discovered how easy it would be to add an undergraduate certificate in Operations Management.

I just need OPM-301 Operations Management.

I can get this either with a $77 TECLEP or by reactivating my study.com membership for $199.

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated (even if it's just "don't do it dude, just focus on the eight courses you're taking")

feedback: If price is part of decision between those, the TECEP is $77 per credit not per exam for that UL course.  77 x 3 = 231. makes the price closer on those.

for info on format of the TECEP https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_D57CFr_7uV3HP5DDOfMs1nvB3i--ZhB1kWu4n6c3Eo/edit
and compare that to the length of course at SDC and the essay for the course, which is on sdc site.

no advice on whether should or should not.
