SNHU vs UMPI? - Secondact - 12-02-2022
Does anyone know how these 2 options compare based only on how courses are completed?
BA General Studies with minor in leadership-
I'm familiar with Sophia platform as well as online universal learner at ASU.
I'm waiting on my degree audit from Jessica, but based on the advice here and finishing up completing BIO with a lab at SDC- I will need to complete 30 credits at UMPI. 6 credits should transfer as upper level.
I have my degree audit from SNHU and they did NOT accept my Instacert courses of Marketing or American Government. So i transferred over 2 more Sophia courses to meet the 90 transfer credits allowed. 6 credits transfer as upper level when I send my updated transcripts from ASU. I will need to complete 30 credits at SNHU to complete my degree.
Mid 50's - Northeast PA
I want to complete my degree in 2023.
Cost is not part of the decision.
I have 20 hours a week for course work no other obligations.
No tuition assistance.
Thank you for any feedback you may have on your time at SNHU or UMPI. I appreciate this group as I went from 9 credits thru CLEP starting in September of 2021 to over 90 credits now. I have all of you to thank for sharing your experience and knowledge here.

You'll easily be able to complete your UMPI degree in 1 or 2 sessions which is 8 or 16 weeks. SNHU will not be that quick. They have 7 week long terms and you cannot take as many classes as you want in a term. They're not a CBE program like UMPI. You can only take a couple of courses per term at SNHU. One of my terms at UMPI I completed 8 classes, no way is that possible at SNHU.

Thank you. I will wait for my degree audit from Jessica and ask that I remove some of my lower level credits and transfer in Behavioral Dynamics in Organizations will post to my transcript late next week I think as it looks like it transfers upper 300 level and also transfer in bio 101 w lab when I finish this month. If allowed to do this I will complete my degree at UMPI.
Both platforms are the same with no down time at UMPI.
Hopefully I can send updated transcripts as I haven’t heard anything back from Jessica yet.

SNHU will cost $9600, while UMPI will cost $1400-$2800. That alone makes UMPI a better choice; but UMPI will also be MUCH faster. SNHU will probably take 5 8-week terms, which would be 40 weeks - and that 5th term (assuming you started in January) wouldn't finish until mid-October. UMPI would prob let you start in January, and you would be done in either March or May depending on how quickly you went through.
