TESC Academic Honors? - HawkGuy - 06-15-2008 Does anyone know what GPA TESC requires to award Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Summa Cum Laude? I looked in their catalog and the website, but I haven't seen anything. TESC Academic Honors? - mlwilliamsiv - 06-15-2008 That's a very good question HawkGuy...I'd like to know as well. Someone please respond to this quick!!!! -Marshall TESC Academic Honors? - NJMedic - 06-15-2008 I was under the impression that they do not award latin honors, instead having 2 specific honors listed in the prospectus, 1 awarded to candidates in the top 10% who completed a minimum number of credits through tesc directly, and one for candidates who completed credits via testing/alternative means. Both are board selection, no honors are given on the basis of gpa alone. --C TESC Academic Honors? - Pattie - 06-15-2008 NJMedic is correct...TESC does not award Latin honors. They award the Arnold Fletcher Award for "for achieving excellence in nontraditional learning" with 90 or more non-traditional credits, and induction into the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society which recognizes academic excellence for nontraditional students who have achieved a GPA of at least 3.2 and are among the top 10% of those who qualify (you must also have 60 TESC graded credits of which 12 are in liberal arts/sciences). Do you know if it's 90 out of 120, or just 90? I have 89 nontraditional credits- might be worth it to add in another FEMA if it gives me a shot an an award. The extra credits came as a result of having gone over in some CC courses that were worth 4 credits each. I had taken a number of FEMA courses and saw that the "overage" of CC credits had pushed them off my evaluation. I e-mailed TESC and asked them to adjust my free electives so that all the FEMA credits showed up and the additional CC credits did not. They accommodated me on this and I will be getting the Arnold Fletcher Award. Long story short...go for it! TESC Academic Honors? - HawkGuy - 06-15-2008 That's both good news and kind of a let down. I would have really liked for my diploma to have some kind of "cum laude" on it haha. But an award you say.... hmmmm |
