Tips to Maximize Efficiency - LakeMomNY - 04-29-2023 I am registered for the Summer 1 session beginning 5/8. I will have 30 credits to complete for the BLS in either PM or MIS; or 36 credits for the BABA in PM. I would like to finish as efficiently as possible and was hoping for any tips people might have regarding the best way to get this done. (Such as classes that have few/no milestones that can therefore be completed while waiting for profs to approve milestones for the other.) Any other advice anyone has would be great too! RE: Tips to Maximize Efficiency - dfrecore - 04-29-2023 A BABA will give you way more bang for your buck than a BLS, so I'd go that route. That’s the plan…unless I run out of time. RE: Tips to Maximize Efficiency - bjcheung77 - 04-30-2023 The courses remaining should be very similar for both degrees, it's best to go from top to bottom of the remaining list by number, generally the lower level would be easier than the upper level courses. You can see which ones are exams and complete those first, then work on the remaining ones that require assignments, presentations, or research/written work. I was surprised to find that this isn't necessarily the case. MAT 140 isn't bad at all, especially the exam, but it takes time. MAT 101 takes time to get through and has a 15-page research and analysis paper at the end. BUS 244 has six milestones and a very tricky exam. On the other hand, BUS 321 and BUS 330 are relatively straightforward exams with no milestones. I've taken Calculus, so I've got math covered, I believe. And Im just finishing up the BUS 244 equivalent on Study.com...hopefully taking the final today. Sounds like BUS 244 through Study.com was a lucky decision! These are the classes I have left for the BABA, the ones with a * are required for the BLS. (Everything else for the BLS would be an elective): BUS 200* BUS 220 BUS 245* BUS 325 BUS 343 BUS 345* BUS 353 BUS 400 BUS 401 BUS 415 BUS 440* BUS 469 RE: Tips to Maximize Efficiency - origamishuttle - 05-01-2023 (05-01-2023, 10:21 AM)LakeMomNY Wrote: (Everything else for the BLS wold be an elective) If there is truly no difference for you between the BLS and the BABA, then the BLS will likely be easier/faster. The electives in the BLS allow you the flexibility to choose courses that are easier for you than the required courses in the BABA. For example, if exams are easier for you, then you may choose BUS 321 & BUS 330, whereas if papers are easier, you may go for something like POS 335 & POS 343 instead. Or maybe all four look good to you, so you would take all of them as electives. The reality is that I only need the degree to check the box. But the BABA for 2 extra courses is tempting anyway. RE: Tips to Maximize Efficiency - rachel83az - 05-01-2023 You might only need the BLS to check the box right now, but is it possible that you might need a business degree in the future? It might be worth it to do the BABA, especially if it's only 2 extra classes for you. RE: Tips to Maximize Efficiency - ss20ts - 05-01-2023 BABA is definitely slower than the BLS especially now with Milestones requiring affirmation. Some of the business professors are very slow to affirm. The history professors seem to have this program down to a science and get students moving quickly. I have both the BLS and the BABA. The BABA took longer and I didn't need my Milestones affirmed then. Much longer papers than the history courses. PM and MIS both have courses that will slow you down. Some due to the professor. Some due to the Final Assessment. PM has 2 courses not on the learning platform and you're at the professor's mercy. She's been very slow responding this session. I'm talking over a week if she responds. There's no options for professors in the YourPace program. You get who is teaching that session and that's it. |
