American Dream Academy - learningthehardway - 06-07-2023

So I noticed that you can take some of these certificate courses for free. I was looking at either Project Management or IT Support for Google, or maybe IBM Cyber Security...

For some reason a year ago while I was on here, I thought I recall seeing something posted about some of these certificates giving college credits when enrolling in certain schools.

I wonder, would that apply to UMPI? What about EU, WGU, TAMUC or TESU? I plan to go back to UMPI if I get good word back from the appeals team but the other schools are my backup options if things with UMPI fall flat.

Was that college credit thing something I was imagining? I can't seem to come across it again on the board from searching.

You know, I sometimes wonder if I imagined COVID. Or did that really happen to us?? Lol.

There are quite a few certs that count for 3 or 4 college courses:

HAHAHA, Oh I know that one happened to me and my wife, mom, grandma and Aunt...horrible. Won't forget it lol.

Thanks a ton! I will check it out, make sure I am taking the right one!

Google Certs To UMPI - learningthehardway - 06-08-2023

Good evening Degree Forumnites....Is that a thing? I am making it a thing.

I just wanted to say I signed up for Google Certs through The American Dream Academy.

Based on the wiki, It looks like If I take Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce I should end up with BUS 433 E-Commerce & Soc Media Mrktng (9 credits total) for UMPI

If I then complete it early enough and do Project Management I should get BUS 400: Project Management Applications, BUS-1XX Elective, BUS-3XX Elective (9 credits total)

So my thoughts are, I know I need to take 10 courses total with UMPI

I have 4 UL Major/Minor Courses
I have 7 UL Electives

Then the last bit of my Gen Ed Stuff.

So theoretically I am thinking about this....

Take both Google Courses, that will give me 3 UL Electives, Leaving me with 4 UL Electives
Take my 4 UL Major/Minor Courses and those 4 UL Electives with UMPI

Take English 121 and Art 108 with UMPI
Take US Gov, BIO Lab, Spanish on Sophia

So if I am able to go back to UMPI after this appeal, then that is my plan. Any thoughts? The UL major/minor courses I have to take are Bus260 Leadership, Bus321 Human Resource Management, Bus415 Operations Management and Bus240 Change Management. I don't know what electives I would take yet but any idea on the difficulty of these courses? What I should and shouldn't take together? My ultimate goal is to be done no later than May 2024, so I can travel and actually walk across the stage and hold my head high. lol

@learningthehardway, I would put more focus on the ones that you're interested in, especially if these Coursera/TADA are worth ACE credit. You don't need to complete them all, just the ones that interest you most and/or in the areas you want to get into, say Data Analytics or Project Management, etc.

RE: American Dream Academy - ss20ts - 06-11-2023

Does the TADA offer Coursera Plus for $1 a month? Just wondering as New York State is offering Coursera Plus for $1 a month. Seems like NY is covering the cost of Coursera through the feds Covid funding. I may be wrong about that, but it started during Covid and the glamorous shutdowns.

TADA, offers that same deal for $1/month... It really doesn't matter how you want to do things here, I would do TADA offerings and the NY State offerings as most likely, they'll have more or less certs/options to select from, it's not going to be exactly identical. I don't think you really need the extra Coursera Plus offerings, but if you think it's worth the extra buck to get those extra certs, it's fine to subscribe to that extra service. There are so many freebie offerings already, I don't know, could be overkill...

By any chance did you see my "Google Certs to UMPI" post in the UMPI forum? I am still trying to see if it makes sense or not.

I was just wondering if TADA offered Coursera Plus for $1 a month. There are definitely some certs I want from Advancing Women in Tech. I haven't seen any of those certs offered by anyone else on Coursera.

That sounds like a good plan to do some of your UL and electives with certifications versus Study.com
