One SDC course, 6 sh Upper Level in Philosophy - Jonathan Whatley - 08-18-2023 According to Study.com's Upcoming Changes to Credit-Granting Courses page, Quote:The ACE credit recommendation for Philosophy 101: Principles of Philosophy is being changed from 3 lower division credits to 6 upper division credits. The date of this change is "TBD." If the destination school accepts that recommendation, this could help a degree plan that could use UL Philosophy or Humanities credit. No other Study.com course is worth 6 credits. What makes Philosophy 101 so special? No idea why. But it is what it is. RE: One SDC course, 6 sh Upper Level in Philosophy - ss20ts - 08-18-2023 I wouldn't expect colleges to co along with this. They make their own determination. For the last 7+ years, TESU has stuck VERY closely to ACE recommendations for most courses. So I'd assume they'd give it 6cr of UL. But you won't know until after ACE recommendation has been officially approved, and then TESU has had a chance to review the course, which it only does twice a year at SDC. So it could be a while before anyone knows anything for certain. I would not recommend taking this course until after TESU does a review. Even if they decide to give it 6cr of UL, they will do it as of a certain date, so if you take it after the date ACE recommends it for UL, but before TESU changes their own credit policy for this course, you might end up getting 3cr of LL. So wait it out. RE: One SDC course, 6 sh Upper Level in Philosophy - Jonathan Whatley - 08-18-2023 The fact that SDC is retitling it Philosophy 301 suggests they might add one or more assignments. RE: One SDC course, 6 sh Upper Level in Philosophy - LevelUP - 08-18-2023 This could be another Rick Roll moment for Study.com. RE: One SDC course, 6 sh Upper Level in Philosophy - jsh1138 - 08-18-2023 I know a little bit about Study.com and they are adding assignments to lots of courses and either getting them a credit evaluation or moving them from LL to UL I promise you that Philosophy 101, which I just took, is not going to get you 6 UL credits as it is now. They are going to add some assignments to it, probably 5 or 6 I bet. You're basically doing the same as the LL but with extra content, how much content required to bump it up from LL to UL is going to depend on the requirements. |
