BAS Degree - AnonStudent - 09-15-2023

So without reading all the prior messages, it sounds like a CS degree at UMPI is not on the horizon.  Trying to come up with a STEM degree for my software engineer husband.  I know some people have gotten a degree in applied science using technical certifications.  Does anyone know which certifications would qualify, particularly those relevant to a n engineer/developer?

I just did this exact thing.

I did the MIS minor with the BAS and threw in a Political Science minor because I am interested in it and needed some electives.  Dr Zaborney teaches most of those, so it was also a speedy way to finish electives in courses I really like.

*ding ding*, that's what I would recommend, work on the trifecta of certs, degree, experience... Since hubby is in the field and working as a software engineer, the experience/work aspect of the trifecta has been completed, you need to focus on the certs and degree. Does hubby already have an associates degree? If so, what is it in? Get the Coursera/TADA certs that provide ACE credit and work towards the UMPI BAS or BLS with a double minor, one in MIS and the other in Management.

Thanks.  I replied on the other thread.

Thanks.  He does not have an associates but has three years of college toward an art degree completed.  He doesn’t want to work on certs that don’t apply toward his field.  So are you saying all the coursera certs are ace credits?   I could have him flip through their catalogs.

Yes, take all the Coursera/TADA offerings that he's interested in, it was mentioned in the other thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Pierpont-BOG-IT-concentration-to-UMPI-BAS-Anyone-done-it-yet?pid=403323#pid403323

Again, certs, degree, experience. Maybe he would like to try taking them as it may appeal to his specific fields. Something like this: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-TADA-Tier-List-of-Certificates?pid=398174#pid398174
