European-American University Degree Mill - elcastor21 - 10-03-2023 The European-American University claims accreditation from the The Apostolic Episcopal Church and sells VAE(life-experience) degrees for a fee. obvious degree mill Quote:How is credit awarded? Yeah, totally rigurous , as rigurous as PayPal or Bitcoin ![]() This is their fee scheme: This is their totally rigurous fee scheme: ![]() LOL RE: European-American University Degree Mill - bjcheung77 - 10-06-2023 Wow, they pulled all their strings since 2003 it seems... They mentioned their recognition from CUFCE way back in 2014. Numerous pages of information, they may even have Florida exemption, hmm... still, not being RA, NA or NA-Faith Based, and just having "state" recognition may not be enough for most people. I'd skip them for now... RE: European-American University Degree Mill - nykorn - 10-20-2023 Honestly? In the US, no one is ever going to check your highschool diploma. In fact I found out there is no way to even get your diploma checked (except, of course, contacting the school directly, which no one would ever do) as there is no state or national body that even oversees highschool graduation records. You can even get into colleges without a highschool diploma (just take an aptitude test, or potentially trick them with some degree mill Bachelor's). So if I didn't already have one, I might just fork over $600 to get one... Anyways I've noticed a lot of degree mills specifically target Africans. Very sad. Or, alternatively, if you want to get ahead in life, maybe you should buy a few degrees and head to Africa. I tend to agree, but recently I applied for a certification and the form actually required an upload of my high school diploma. It was the first time I can think of where I actually had to show my high school diploma. RE: European-American University Degree Mill - rachel83az - 10-25-2023 Which certification was this? Was it from an actual university or what? For example, you have the Western Orthodox University: https://westernorthodox.university/ The Pythagorean University of Krotona: https://san-luigi.org/scholarship/the-pythagorean-university-of-krotona/ As well as a number of others, all connected through the Anglican Association of Colleges and Schools: https://san-luigi.org/scholarship/the-anglican-association-of-colleges-and-schools/ ---- In case anyone is curious, I'm not planning to enroll in any of the above. RE: European-American University Degree Mill - Johann - 10-25-2023 I'm not planning to register at any, either. I looked up some of these religious splinter-group Universities, as I call them. The Pythagorean School of Krotona sounded interesting. However, it had nothing to do with Croton in Southern Italy, a Greek colony, where Pythagoras taught around 520 BCE. The Pythagorean School of Krotona was founded in the 20th C. by an Englishman, who made use of Pythagoras' name. The founder was a Bishop of one of these churches Messdiener mentioned. The Krotona degrees are awarded through Western Orthodox University. That school is a Florida-based outfit, operating under religious exemption. No US accreditation. From its web-page: "The University is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation." My opinion: these degrees will not be worth anything, outside their religious denom. Strictly wall-hangers, for most of us. Interestingly enough, there is a place called Krotona in the Hollywood Hills. You can Google it. It was a hotbed of mystical societies and schools - A few remain. I wondered if this school (Pythagoras) had any connection but they say it's Krotona in Magna Graecia (mainland Greece) which - if it exists - is NOT the place where Pythagoras taught. That school was in Croton, a Greek colony in Southern Italy. There's a town there today - Crotone - founded 710 BCE. Excellent cheese from there - "Crotonese." I can (and do) buy it locally, here in Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotone Messdiener - WHERE do you even get schools like this?? I don't know what would be more appropriate for this one: an exorcism or a standard de-bunking? Sacra Vacca! (Holy Cow!) RE: European-American University Degree Mill - Johann - 10-25-2023 Holup! Just a minnit! Small correction. Perhaps by 'Magna Graecia" for Kroton's location, they don't mean Mainland Greece. I mis-translated. I think it's possibly best-termed Greater Greece - i.e. including Greek satellites (colonies) and Greek sphere of influence in ancient days. It's like where I live. I'm in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), even though I'm nearly 50 miles (80 km.) from Toronto. Same deal. So, It's quite possible the "Krotona" the Pythagorean school refers to, is Croton(e) in Southern Italy where Pythagoras taught. I've read, in an Italian source, that there are many people in that area of Calabria today, who still, after all these centuries, generally speak Greek among their own, rather than Italian. Everything else I wrote -- no change. RE: European-American University Degree Mill - Stanislav - 10-25-2023 Thank you for bringing up this little oddity. John Kersey AKA His Serehe Highness, Beatitude and Royal Majesty Mar Edmundus III, Prince-Abbott and Mukungu of the Ancient Abbey-Principality of San Luigi, Prince of Miensk, Vilna and All Byelorussia, Patriarch-Catholicos of the West etc., etc., etc. is probably the most creative of all the mill operators out there. The amount of effort he expends in creating elaborate backstories of all the entities he leads is a marvel to behold. If I'd read the home page, I'd have seen His Mukungu-ship Kersey's name and saved myself a lot of bother. Unfortunately I went right to Pythagoras U. His name isn't on that page. So - thanks for mentioning- and we're in complete agreement. Messdiener... have you anything to say, here? |
