Recommendations For 18 LL or 9 UL Social Science Credits - harrypotter - 11-07-2023 So i'm looking to get a teacher intern permit in social science while enrolled in a teacher program but I need at least 18 LL or 9 UL social science RA credits (history, government, geography, economics) to be eligible for it. I strongly prefer competency based/ self paced. It's so weird - I've been on the forum for years but i'm going blank here. I'm thinking UMPI might be my best bet but is there anything cheaper? I'm looking for fast & cheap - any recommendations? Thanks in advance :] I'm also trying to find fast intro to special education, educational psychology & classroom management courses to transfer into the program- has anyone seen these around? RE: Recommendations For 18 LL or 9 UL Social Science Credits - Jonathan Whatley - 11-07-2023 If your state accepts ACE or NCCRS alt-credit on an RA school's transcript like an TESU Individual Learning Account or enrolled student transcript or an Excelsior OneTranscript, or for ACE maybe a UMPI enrolled student transcript, there are options from Sophia (most or all LL), and study.com (mostly ACE, potentially some UL) and Coopersmith (NCCRS so not at UMPI; potentially some UL). But that's a big if. RE: Recommendations For 18 LL or 9 UL Social Science Credits - bjcheung77 - 11-07-2023 Yes, the TESU credit bank is your best bet, I would skip Excelsior as I recall they 'stopped' that feature or now charging $400 or something similar. If your state allows ACE/NCCRS that would be your best option. Having said that, if you need RA and LL, your community college may be a good option as well. If you're looking at UL, then doing so at UMPI may be a choice... RE: Recommendations For 18 LL or 9 UL Social Science Credits - rachel83az - 11-08-2023 By the numbers, I'm going to say that UMPI will probably be the cheapest option. Unless your local CC has exceptionally cheap classes! Most UMPI students are able to complete 4-6 UMPI classes per session. Especially History classes taught by Dr. Z. That works out to $250-$375 per class - not per credit. It's about $83-$125 per credit. No books or other hidden fees. The only cheaper way would be SDC and Sophia courses transferred to TESU "because you're pursuing a certificate". (You don't actually have to complete the certificate. You can always "change your mind" later.) |
