Is the CLEP College Composition Modular easier than Sophia's English Composition I? - whiverem - 11-07-2023
And will CLEP College Composition Modular (which I think has an essay part) satisfy the same requirement as Sophia's English Composition I for a Pierpont associate degree?
This is the guide I'm planning my Pierpont associate degree around: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pierpont_C%26TC. But there's no mention of CLEP there.
I don't mind spending more for the CLEP if it's easier, they're all a lot cheaper than taking a regular college course online. Thank you.
Edit: I know I can take Visual Communication with Sophia to satisfy the same requirement at Pierpont but a writing course would actually be easier for me I think.

CLEP is an exam, no written work at all, you can take it by doing the Modern States course and that's sufficient enough to pass...

Visual Communication is super, super easy. I would recommend giving it a try before doing the CLEP. You can probably finish the whole thing in just a few hours; no papers are required.
That said, CLEP modular (no essay) should work for Pierpont.

To clarify, the College Composition Modular CLEP exam is multiple choice only. College Composition is multiple choice plus two short essays. As Bryan mentioned, you can sign up with Modern States, complete all the quizzes in their prep course, and request a voucher to take CLEP exams online for free. I believe they only offer College Composition, not College Composition Modular. I think some people have used the voucher for College Composition Modular instead, but I'm not sure. Given that Pierpont takes the College Composition Modular CLEP, it's probably safe to assume that it fulfills the Communications requirement.

Your best bet is to take classes or exams that will go towards your Bachelors of choice, it's easier this way so you have options that hit both the Associates/Bachelors with one class or exam. It's alright if you take a different route as some people like the extra learning, it really depends on the student...
