Need Help with UMPI Accounting & Project Management Degree Plan ? - europeanumpi - 11-22-2023

Hi everyone!

I'm 25 years old, and living in Sweden. I'm planning to double major in BA Accounting and BABA in Project Management & Information Systems at UMPI. I've confirmed this path with UMPI and am preparing for the Duolingo test (aiming for a 105 score).

Starting with no credits, I’m looking for the best way to tackle this. I've checked out Study.com, Straighterline, and Sophia, but I didn’t find Saylor suitable.

I'm seeking advice on:

Course selection and study order for a double major at UMPI.
Cost-effective strategies, especially as I’m considering a master's degree later.
Appreciate any help you can offer!

Cheers,
europeanumpi

I found some links, but I'm not sure if they are up-to-date or the best approach for my situation:

I've been following your posts on DegreeForum.net for a while now and I'm really impressed by the depth of your knowledge and the practical advice you give. Your journey through various programs, especially your current Walden MBA and TESU degrees, is quite inspiring!

I'm in a bit of a unique spot myself - aiming for a double degree in BA in Accounting and BABA in Project Management & Information Systems at UMPI. Starting from ground zero with no credits, I'm trying to map out the most efficient path forward.

Though I understand UMPI isn't in your list of alma maters, your broad experience with degree planning makes me think you might have some golden nuggets of wisdom to share. Anything about accumulating transfer credits efficiently, or just general advice on navigating online education would be super helpful.

Really appreciate you taking the time to read this. Any insights you can share would be amazing!
Cheers, europeanumpi
Got your PM, what you've entered in here is perfect, you've got the BA Accounting and BABA PM&IS WIKI links, you just need to complete all the Coursera/Sophia.org classes that go towards both.  My suggestion is to get the Coursera for $1 USD/first month right away as that ends in two days.  Once the Coursera certs are done, then do the Sophia.org that go towards both degrees as the WIKI is updated already.  Link: Coursera Plus for $1/month... Expires Sept 21, 2023 (degreeforum.net)

Clarifying the Double Major: CPA and PMP Exam Eligibility - europeanumpi - 11-23-2023

Hey, it's me again!
Quick thought on my double major (BA Accounting and BABA in PM & IS): UMPI’s Project Management & IS program is pretty robust and aligns with PMP exam prep. Combining this with Accounting, do you reckon it'll cover the credits for both CPA and PMP exams?
Eager to hear if anyone's navigated a similar path or has insights on this.
Thanks a ton for your help!
Cheers, europeanumpi.

No, it's not geared for CPA or PMP, those are both completely different beasts. The programs at UMPI aren't geared towards any type of certification (not many programs are actually, unless they specifically indicate they do). If you want to do the CPA or PMP, you should add to that using supplemental sources...
