Applying for Pierpont graduation - Sunnshyne79 - 08-29-2023

All,

Nancy confirmed last month that I meet the requirements for BOG and told me to go on ROAR to complete the graduation application. When I access ROAR, I don’t have an option to pick a term ( see screenshot). Anyone run into this situation? I reached out to Nancy over a week ago and I’m sure she’s busy with the semester just starting. Just wanted to check here.

Also,
I was supposed to start WGU in October but it looks like I would get transfer credit for some classes once I have the associates that I did not receive in my original transcript evaluation with WGU. Has anyone had this situation where you got additional requirements met after getting BOG even though it’s the same classes? Even if I complete the grad application now for BOG, I won’t have any documentation showing an associates degree until after December right? Should I wait until after December graduation for the official Pierpont transcript to start WGU? From my calculation, it would be 5 less classes I would need to take at WGU.

If it doesn't derail your plans, I think waiting until December would be worth it to chisel away 5 classes. You could possibly take a few extra Study.com, etc., courses while you wait to fully maximize transfer limits.

@Sunnshyne79, Welcome to the board, your only option is to wait for graduation (they're very busy and bogged down) and then start your studies at WGU (WGU doesn't enroll you until you've been audited/conferred).  I would not know what the issue is right now as you haven't filled in the addendum/template, an area of the template asks you to fill out the courses you've taken, we can't compare what's there and what you currently have and we're going by your calculations.

In any case, continue to max your transfer credits from Sohpia.org, Study.com and any other providers you can get alternative credits from. It would be best for you to provide us an overview of your situation... Please fill in the addendum/template here as we don't know any of the 'basics' such as what degree you're looking to start at WGU: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-New-to-DegreeForum-How-this-Area-works

Journey to WGU- Transcript Eval info - Sunnshyne79 - 12-28-2023

I was just conferred for my BOG w/ Pierpont on December 8th and want to share the difference between my transcript evaluation with WGU.

I started researching WGU at the end of May and decided to enroll with a start date of October due to a big work project that was occupying my time. This was my original transcript eval with credits I planned to transfer from previous course work:

After researching message boards here and FB, I decided to enroll in Sophia and took a few courses over the summer. Here is my transcript eval after sending in Sophia work
[attachment=4791]

At this point I found out about the BOG at Pierpont and read an old post here by Raekwon, I believe, stating they received additional credits just for completing the AAS. So I decided to delay my WGU start and worked with Nancy Parks to get that complete. Here is my WGU eval now [attachment=4792]

So I just wanted to share my path in case it would be helpful to someone else. I didn’t take any additional classes after the Sophia courses but officially having my AAS automatically gave me completion credit for some of the WGU classes. For me, it was worth the wait. I will be starting WGU in February in the Business Management program.

Thanks for the update, I've merged the two threads so we get a better idea of what transpired... You're about half way through your degree, but what you may want to do is delay that until you have transferred the max credits towards that degree. If you refer to their partners.wgu.edu webpage, they have Sophia.org, Saylor,org, Study.com, StraighterLine, and many more you can complete classes with.

You should create a spreadsheet template for the degree requirements and what can be transferred with which provider and only completing classes that can't transfer or the ones you really want to take at WGU, link us to that spreadsheet on your one/google drive and make the file viewable, not editable, we can comment or provide further recommendations. Good luck, great job, have fun ...

Congrats - that's a big win! WGU doesn't have any electives, which generally makes transfers more difficult, but the block transfer for previous degrees is a nice workaround. I didn't wait for my Pierpont AAS to transfer, but I was able to transfer in a similar percentage of the overall CUs, and I was able to finish in two months, so you're in pretty good shape. As Bryan mentioned, you may still have a bit more time to complete one or more courses and have them transfer (maybe a week or so for a February start?), assuming you haven't completed the intake yet. Either way, best of luck!
