Wrexham/Glyndwr and Abertay - housecat - 04-18-2024

Hi there,

Has anyone compared the offerings from Wrexham University (Glyndwr) and Abertay University?
Or had experience with either university?

Similarities:
  • Async instruction
  • FAQ sections almost word for word
  • Both have similar entry requirements
  • Similar pricing structures
  • Not third-party accredited, but legit brick-and-mortar buildings with on-campus offerings, public funded
  • Canvas LMS
  • Marketing and funnelling and "ask us for more while we hide the info you want like course outlines"
  • Website "feelings" when reading through them

Differences:
  • Names of universities
  • Locations: Wrexham in Wales, UK versus Abertay in Scotland, UK
  • Website are somewhat different, but still have the same feeling somehow

Are they selling access to the same system I wonder, like a partnership from a third-party educator? Such an example would be University of Cumbria, University of Salford Manchester, York St. John University, and University of Gloucestershire all selling through Robert Kennedy College.

Any thoughts, go for it, I'm open to ideas Big Grin

I'd never looked into Abertay, but I spent some time reviewing Wrexham a while back.

One thing that caught my attention is that their online programs seem to be run through their North Wales Management School, which should be fine for MBA students. But for folks doing Computer Science, Education, and Psychology, it might be a bit odd to study with a management school. I tried reaching out to Wrexham to ask about the official diploma (ie. whether it states Wrexham, North Wales, or both) but never received any reply. If anyone else has had better luck, please do let us know!

These program delivered through UAE partner seems cheaper and easier like Uniathena, Westford, Capital University College.
One more option is Unicaf, but it seem no one in this forum has experience with this company.

@housecat, I get a lot of spam from Robert Kennedy College, skip them for now... I would investigate further what your institutions of choice are going to be and then have a few for back up options, here's a thread you may want to review for Masters/MBA options that are affordable and can be done in a year: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-List-of-Cheap-Online-MBA-Programs-That-Can-Be-Completed-in-Under-1-Year

I had communicated with Wrexham and feel like I was told the diploma is issued by Wrexham and does not mention the management school. However, I cannot find the email just now so I can't say for certain. I will keep looking, it may be in another email account.

Just to update for those who may find this thread later, I found information on the online Wrexham University offerings, on the sister forum in the thread entitled "Wrexham Glyndwr University - MSc in Computer Science (£6,000, No Bachelor's required)"

I included this information here because it is not easy to find. I will update if I can get more information.
