National University info? - Randyb100 - 10-09-2024

I did search and didn't find anything listed at all, even undergrad. They have a lot of doctoral programs, including a juris doctor, completely online. It is a regionally accredited university out of San Diego.

National University

I am personally interested in their PhD in Cybersecurity and their Juris Doctor program. It's not Bar accredited, but it has been by Calbar since 1981 (just Googled that, actually).

We're familiar with them, but we don't talk about them much because they're not cheap. They only have a lot of those programs because they purchased JFK University (which had purchased other universities themselves) and Northcentral University.

I attended their PhD program in I-O psychology. I am a PhD-Candidate-ABD at their school. In my experience they are an awful school. They stretch on the dissertation. It is like $45-50 just to complete the dissertation portion only. I am actually enrolled to start the DBA-ABD program at Baker College so I can finish my dissertation. They are extremely expensive and in my experience they side more qith their staff and their students. If you have an issue with your class or your professor you SOL. Their trustpilot score is 2.8 out of 5.

I wanted to add during my dissertation portion my chair was always on vacation. When your dissertation chair is absent there are no backups. So I went weeks without graded portions of dissertation. All in attempt to extend the time in dissertation. In a 8 week class I had 5 weeks to get my dissertation which was impossible. My chair took 2 week break.

I wanted to add one more thing. After I made known my problems with the university they sent me an email asking if I would include them when I do my estate/will planning. Shady school.

I'd like to chime in and say that I took two classes at National University for my master's program a few years ago, and I was not impressed. The curriculum seemed outdated and their tuition is sky high. I transferred to another institution to finish my degree and never looked back. A friend of mine mentioned NU for their doctorate and I told them to go somewhere else. I'd give you the same advice.

They're part of a 'system' and pretty much merged their subsidiaries into the main NU parent institution. The only reason I would really go for them is if you get their full ride scholarship for the doctoral studies! A few years ago, they had 6-8 slots for those who got into the program and were selected for receiving the scholarship, nowadays - it's only 1-2 slots for these scholarships.
