ASU Thunderbird Graduate Cert Global Management Transfer Credit - zmn4000 - 02-16-2025

Hello all,

I've checked the forum quite a bit to find this information and haven't had luck yet.

I am awaiting grading for the ASU Grad Cert for Global Management stemming from the Thunderbird/100 Million Learners Program. I've got a couple other graduate degrees already and I just enjoy learning and stacking creds. Does anyone have recommendations on the best places to transfer those 15 hours towards another program? I don't want to spend out-of-state tuition to continue the masters program at ASU that will accept those courses.

Also, does anyone know what the actual ASU Grad Cert in Global Management looks like, including the physical size of the cert? If it's a decent looking cert, of course it will be framed and added to my "me" wall at the office.

Thanks in advance!

J

I could be wrong, but I believe someone posted that you have to apply for an ASU program before they will put the cert on your transcript. It also cost a lot for a "free" cert.

I did apply to ASU for the grad cert program (Global Management, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation) and I am fine paying for whatever costs are associated with transcribing it (I never expect anything to be free!). But we should be able to just get the grad cert at ASU on an academic transcript without enrolling in their full masters program. If anyone knows differently, please let me know. But I'd love to find out the best places to transfer those credits that are more affordable than ASU.

Read the thread on the program. There are some folks who are being told it's $500 per course to transcribe the courses. That's far from free which is what was advertised.

I always assume there will be "more to it" whenever low-cost is being advertised. Just curious about maximum transferability with the courses, maybe there is something that matches up great out there!

Transferability will always depend on where you're trying to transfer the credits to. Grad programs aren't transfer credit friendly like undergrad because they're 1/4 of the credits. The courses typically have to be the same as taught in the program you're transferring to and there's often time limits on transfer credit in grad programs. Considering how long it's taken this program to even offer all of the courses and still not have the cost worked out is concerning. I completed 2 master's degrees at Amberton and had a year off in the time it took for this program to offer all 5 of the required courses.

That's what I believe as well, at the masters level, institutions have a max of 25% or probably up to 50% of the program transferable. I would suggest programs such as a Masters of Arts, Liberal Studies or something very general, that allows at least 15 credits transferable into the program. There are so many various programs out there to investigate...

An example (expensive option) close to that is the TESU MALS, they allow 12 credits transferable, not 15 though... and it's 36 credits, not the usual 30. Thus, you pay for 24 credits at an expensive rate... I would highly suggest searching the sister board as well for possible programs. There may be some on this board as well, see what comes up when you search...

My suggestion is to check out Columbia Southern. They are pretty affordable and transfer friendly. The general MBA program has a bit of room for electives. They take a max of 24 credits in transfer and the general MBA has 12 credits of electives. Of course, they would have to determine that it is an equivalent to something they offer. But I think it’s one of the best possibilities. https://www.columbiasouthern.edu/online-degree/view-all-programs/masters/mba/

I wouldn’t even consider the Thunderbird School of Global Management’s certificate an official graduate certificate unless the credits actually get transcribed but I don’t think we will get an academic graduate certificate but rather just transcribed credit.  I did get a Certificate of Completion.

They are offering bridge funding to cover grading and academic credit for the 5 courses now but I believe this is only if one chooses to enroll in their Master of Leadership and Management program.
