Mark Rober has a relationship with Luminar LiDAR.
Several scenes showing Luminar employees and corresponding branding raise the question of whether this is paid advertising.
Elon has said that only losers use LiDAR. While LiDAR has its uses, it has many limitations and cannot be solely relied upon for full self-driving.

The musketeers are at it again with a new video.
The reason they called the Mark Rober video a "lie by omission" is that he was testing with an older car equipped with HW3 (Hardware 3).
HW4 has approximately 3–4 times the processing power and camera resolution of HW3. That said, it probably still is possible to fool a Tesla FSD car by displaying a pixel-perfect image on a laser TV panel—similar to a Wile E. Coyote-style tunnel painted onto a wall. Then again, humans would likely be fooled as well.

You need a combination of lidar, radar, and image sensors for self-driving cars to work. Elon is correct. Lidar alone is not sufficient.

Tesla doesn’t use LiDAR in its cars, which is why they can be tricked. Elon considers it “unnecessary”.
