bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - bjcheung77 - 05-15-2025 Well, what do you know?! I just applied to their BS Health Sciences degree program as they're now RA and it's one of the programs that can't be had for this cheap, easy, fast elsewhere. Even though they've got a funky 'degree mill' sounding institution name and need some work on the teaching back end (along with their leadership or management), it's a good deal if you can get it! The other degree I'm interested in is the MEd Advanced Teaching (IB), I'll do that afterwards... I believe the next term starts June 19th, I hope to get accepted sooner rather than later... RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - ss20ts - 05-15-2025 I thought you were working on a degree from UMPI? RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - BSCS - 05-15-2025 Did you give up working on a BA in Biology and CS from TESU and pursuing this Health Sciences degree instead? Basically, I'll finish the BAS and get the classes transferred into the MAOL before I begin my BS Health Sciences at UoPeople. I just want to make sure I get admitted at UoP before any changes happen to the pricing (if they change fees, even though they don't charge tuition). No, I am placing these on hold, I have the CS classes complete, just the Bio portion isn't fully completed yet. I also have the Walden MBA at more than half complete. Putting these on the back burner for now until my BAS is complete. Once I finish my BAS, I'll work on the TESU BA Biology and UoPeople BS Health Science at the same slow pace, course by course or two at a time... I haven't decided on what I want to do with the Walden MBA though... Just a note that anyone planning a second or subsequent bachelor's at TESU while also pursuing any degree somewhere else should make sure that the timing of their credits will meet this requirement in TESU's Award of Degrees Policy: TESU Wrote:Students who have earned a baccalaureate degree from TESU or an accredited institution recognized under the Thomas Edison State University Transfer Credit Policy and wish to earn an additional baccalaureate degree must: RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - Imbanewbie - 05-16-2025 (05-15-2025, 12:21 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Well, what do you know?! Good to hear! Can you share why you chose the Walden MBA program? What benefits do you see in pursuing an MBA from Walden University? Also, are the credits transferable into a PhD program at Walden? RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - bjcheung77 - 05-16-2025 Imbanewbie - Basically, I got in on the Walden MBA back in the day when they had the 50% off per term for the entire program. After the first term, I ran into a situation where I was told that wasn't the case anymore. I was hoping to get the MBA from them and then ladder that to their PhD in Management completion program geared towards ABD and/or people who have similar courses/experience or foreign transfer... RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - wow - 05-19-2025 Cool! I'm hoping to start Health Sciences next term, but I keep having trouble with uploading transcripts in their portal, so we'll see. (Hint: You need to enter the names of ALL course providers and schools you have transcripts for before uploading anything. If you hit the "next" button before you entire all providers, you can't add any more providers without canceling the transfer process completely and asking your advisor to reopen it, which takes up to two weeks. It's stupid.) In any case, maybe I'll see you in class! RE: bjcheung77 accountability thread - UoPeople BS Health Sciences - Captainrekt000 - 05-20-2025 I just started UoPeople AS Health Science April 2025 semester, right after they got RA. I wanted to get the AS Health Science and BS Health Science first before moving up to the MBA, to get used to the course structure first. I wanted to start and finish these 3 degrees before they inevitably increase tuition/exam costs because of the higher student load from its RA, leading to a higher need to hire more professors/IT support/etc And I have to say I WANTED to like UoPeople, but for me, the discussions are 30% and are graded HEAVILY. If I didn't talk about XYZ enough, I got a 70% on the discussion, decreasing my entire grade by 1-2%. To get an A, you can only lose 7% max (93%). Every tanked discussion post decreases my grade ever so closer to under that 93% goal. The first handful of discussions are graded by the teacher, and the last handful of discussions are graded by your classmates. And holy hell. I have no idea why there is no solidarity among the students to give each other all 10s. I keep getting 70-80% grades, which also contributes to my tanking grade. The A- and B+s are giving me a lot of cringe, and I'm going to withdraw from University of the People until I'm fully accepted into medical school in Fall 2026 (grades gotten outside of medical school don't matter anymore when you're already in medical school). I can't afford to take a single A- or lower grade to decrease my GPA right now. That is really the bane of that education experience, we tried every which way to change this they are not listening, they even showed heavy resistance to WASC when it was requested they tone it down, in fact their first two accredidation rounds were not granted mainly because of this. For people who didn't go to it, it's hard to relate, it's BEYOND infuriating to have plebs give you 7 or 8 for a 12/10 post, for no reason except pure snakey malice, to get an A+ there you need to complain to the instructor about everything, every single week, it's exhausting. Well wat u gonna do. |
