What are the new changes to credit-recommended courses?
[*]Lesson quizzes are optional. You are still encouraged to complete them for practice, but they no longer contribute to the final grade.
[*]Chapter tests are mandatory and will contribute to the final grade. All credit-recommended courses have chapter tests. There is one chapter test for each chapter.
[*]Assessments are shorter. Each chapter test is 15 questions, and the final exam is 50 questions.
[*]There is no mandatory minimum grade required on any chapter test. You can attempt each chapter test a maximum of 3 times and the best score will be used to calculate your final grade.
[*]Grade weighting is more balanced with the final exam worth a maximum of 1/3 of the course grade. Here are the grade breakdowns for different course types:
[*]Courses with chapter tests and a final exam: 2/3 chapter tests + 1/3 final exam
[*]Courses with chapter tests, assignment(s) and a final exam: 1/3 chapter tests + 1/3 assignments + 1/3 final exam

From the link above, in the FAQ, it has this info: Can I still re-attempt the final exam?
Yes. You can attempt the final exam up to 3 times. There is still a 3-day waiting period before you are allowed to re-attempt the final exam.
With the newer College Starter and College Saver plan, this should be the same. You'll get 3 attempts to bump your grade to a level you'd want. The new pricing scheme is amazing as it allows you to complete unlimited classes per that month membership, that means, you can attempt to get a better grade without the extra cost. Previously, if you had to attempt the exam again, you'll use up the 2/month, and if you needed to attempt a 3rd try, you'll have to pay $70/extra exam.
Essentially, I highly recommend not just looking at getting 70% to pass any ACE course and instead shoot for a better 80+ because you might want to attend COSC where they require you to have 80% or higher (as an example). Another example is UMass Global, they require you to have 81.5% (yes, not 80% but 81.5%, don't ask me why not 82+). We're mostly here for learning purposes, not to just go for the college credit and skip the subject knowledge component.

If the lesson quizzes are not completed, it seems that the green "√"won't appear, so they should be mandatory, right?

It appears it will now be possible to complete the course for credit without the green checkmarks.

Every time you complete a lesson quiz, a green checkmark "✓" appears and the course progress increases by 1. Can anyone confirm whether it's really possible to complete the entire course without these green checkmarks?

I only saw the Lesson quizzes with 5 multiple-choice questions and the Practice Test with 30 questions, but didn't find the Chapter tests with 15 questions. Also, without completing the Lesson quizzes, there is no green checkmark"√". Do I have to finish all the courses and get all the green checkmarks"√"? Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.

It’s only for new courses according to the website warning and FAQs. My son has not seen the new layout as his courses are all in progress.

What's the advantage to changing it? Is it just that kids can't sit still for a 100 question final?
