Teacher Licensure in North Carolina - 25BangBang - 07-25-2025

I'm a long-time user. I got my associate's from Excelsior and my bachelor's from TESU (back when it was TESC). I completed IT training in the Army and Uncle Sam paid for me to pass 21 CLEPs and DSST. This forum was a huge help.

I recently got a verbal offer for a position teaching middle schoolers business. I would be completing the alternative licensure program since I already have my bachelors. What would be the fastest online program to complete my alternative licensure requirement? It would be great if I could knock it out in the summer. I have a baby on the way so the least amount of time is preferred. However, I am open to more prestigious programs like Pathway to Practice NC if they prepare me for the classroom. I am also open to out-of-state programs if they have reciprocity but I wasn't able to find anything on this.

Also, would this need to be CTE or business specific program or can I do anything middle school?

I would prefer to keep around $5k-$8k. I have 8 months left on my GI bill if that helps. I can spend 6-8 hours a day until August 18th when school will start. After that, I can spend 1-2 hours a day on it but would prefer to spend with my family. Ideally, I would complete in 2-3 weeks but I don't know how this compares to my other online education.

Basically, each state may have minor differences... Your best option is to check with your state licensing and verify what needs to be completed in order to be licensed to teach in North Carolina. There are alternative pathways, you need to make sure what you're doing is a viable path that they will accept towards that teacher licensure.
