Questions about graduation timeline and student ID for online students - iwillbedrwho - 08-07-2025

Hi all,

I'm starting the graduation process and would appreciate your insights on two matters.
For those who have already graduated, could you share how long it typically took from submitting your graduation application on the school portal to receiving your physical diploma by mail?

Additionally, were physical student ID cards originally issued to online students upon enrollment? If it's possible to request one at this stage?

Appreciate any experience shares.

I was a YourPace student and had an ID card mailed to me but it took five emails to find the right person. The nice thing is the ID card has an issue date but no expiration date. IT specialist Marteen Hester is the person who supervises the issuance of ID. I had dreams of receiving student discounts with my student ID but I haven't received any discounts from it. The .edu email address does open a few discounts.

Graduation applications won't be processed until after the term ends and grades are submitted. Grades are due 1 week after the term ends. And then it's 6-8 weeks until your degree is conferred. Some terms it's quicker. Some terms it's longer. May usually has a longer wait because on campus also graduates and Commencement is held.

Physical student ID cards are not automatically shipped to YourPace students. You can request one, but they rarely arrive because of how they're mailed in a tiny envelope. If you're graduating then they may not send you one but no one can say unless you ask UMPI.

The maine.edu email account will automatically close 1 year after graduation or you stop attending UMPI.
