UMPI block transfer ? - acamp - 08-21-2025

Good morning,
If I have a BA and a MA degree, but want to attend UMPI for the Accounting degree, do they do a block transfer of 90 credits? Or is there a chance I will have some prerequisite and General Ed classes I would need to take in addition to the required 30 credits for the accounting degree?

Thanks all.

UMPI waives General Education requirements for holders of any prior bachelor's.

That's correct, you just need the requirements of the major (and any minors you add to it if you ever wanted). My answer to your other post yesterday. Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-BS-in-Accounting-Best-path?pid=444388#pid444388

That’s great news. And that is still the case even if I don’t have any business or Econ classes completed with my bachelors degree?

You've got funky fonts and emoji's added to your post for some reason... Anyways, to answer your question,
UMPI general education requirements don't have accounting or business, economics, etc, those are part of the major.

No idea why those fonts and emojis are going through. Do you know why?

It's an occasional bug in the app. No worries, it's easy for a moderator to clean up.

And to complicate things more, as I know you'll have questions, the GEC is only 40 credits, your electives are a max of 30 for the BLS, if you're doing BA Accounting, or a BSBA Accounting, your electives are less at 18-21. Technically, you're just transferring in 58-61 credits from your previous degree. You'll still need to take the 59-62 credits or so in the Accounting/Business requirements... If it was TESU, you get the full 90 credits (60 gen ed/30 electives), but their BSBA requires 45 business, not 30 in the major.

Decide if the BLS with an accounting minor would work for you if you need a max transfer of credits, you'll still need to use ACE credits to max your transfers before doing 30 at UMPI. Here's the webpage quote for BA/BBA Accounting: The program includes 40 credit hours of general education courses, 59-62 credit hours of business core/Accounting Concentration courses, and 18-21 credit hours of electives. lol you read my mind with the questions. So even with my bachelors degree, I will need to take more than 30 credits at UMPI for the Bachelors in Accounting with them versus alternative credit like SDC or Sophia? Why though if they advertise bringing in 90 transfer credits towards the 120 credit program?

Residency requirement: You only need to take 30 credits at UMPI.

Major and concentration requirements: For the YourPace BA in Accounting for example, you will need to have the 66 credits listed. You're free to find lower-cost transfer sources for 36 credits of that. Some will be easy to meet with Sophia, Study, etc., such as Introduction to Business and Macro and Microeconomics.
