Career Path Question - acamp - 08-22-2025

Hello and good afternoon everyone,
I know that many of the people on this forum are incredibly successful in their line of work that make good money with their speciality or career. I am just looking for some guidance.

I have been teaching for 18 years and I need to career change (why is an entire novel in itself). All I have done my entire life is teach though. I have a bachelors and a masters. I have a large family that I am the sole provider for so I really want to make more money to provide even better for them.

With that, does anyone know any certain bachelors or masters program that if I buckle down and get it done within 1-2 years, that by completing the program would land me a job in a very career where they are looking to hire at a high wage?

Sorry for the grammar mistakes - I am currently working my summer job before school starts and texting quickly before the next customer comes =)

Thanks all for any insight you can share.

HAU MBA, UMPI MAOL or MSB, WGU MBA or MSML, UofPeople MSIT (if you have prerequisites completed) etc. Pick your poison...

Aren’t those all business degrees with the MBA? I have zero business background or experience though. Those degrees will open up high paying jobs?

I think improving your education is important but I think networking and reaching out to people you will help get your foot in the door. You have a lot of experience in teaching, with an MBA or a business degree you can pivot over to training and development. Also too you could do project management. A lot of teacher's seem to take on additional duties or projects like yearbook or something. So you have project management experience. You deal with students and parents so you have customer service experience. You can easily pivot over from teaching to business. I can't say so much about pay though.

Thank you for that. I love dealing with and interacting with people. I just didn’t want to be tied into a sales type position since it’s high pressure when I have a lot of mouths to feed haha.

A high paying job is important since I would really need to make more than I am making now and that’s at the top of the salary guide for teachers due to my 18 years

Even if you stay within education/teaching, you can move into the administrative roles within an educational institution. The ones I listed aren't just for one specific category of industries, it can be multiple categories as these are all general business admin, management, organizational leadership, etc. With whatever industry you want to break into, you don't really need a degree in that specific field, unless those require certifications or licensure...

Career Path Question - acamp - 08-23-2025

Good morning,
The admin role won’t work so that is out of the question.

Just to clarify - I am looking for a degree program to complete (if there is one) that if I were to complete, whether another bachelors or masters, that after graduating with that degree, it would most likely guarantee a high paying job?

Thanks again.

Review what was mentioned already, administration is just one title, it's a leadership role, anything similar to that would work in all industries. You're repeating yourself, and without more clarity in which direction you want to go (subject matter, industry, etc), I'll just repeat my answer again: HAU MBA, UMPI MAOL or MSB, WGU MBA or MSML, UofPeople MSIT (if you have prerequisites completed) etc. Pick your poison...

I’m repeating myself because you aren’t understanding my question. There are plenty of people with a MBA that are jobless or in a low paying job.

Edit: as for which direction to go, that’s the question I am asking on here! I’ll go any direction if I know it will land a higher paying job to provide more for my family after completing a certain degree or path.

No one can say complete a degree in XYZ and you're guaranteed a job earning $100K a year. It simply doesn't work that way. You don't say where you're located. I mean if you're looking to be a King Crab fishermen and live in Atlanta that's just not going to happen. You need to research careers and find one you can get locally paying what you need. Then figure out the education, networking, experience, etc. You won't have experience so you may struggle to find a job or earn a high paying job. What does a high paying job mean? If you live in San Francisco that could mean $500K but in Nebraska it may mean $80K.
