Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - madds_72 - 10-14-2025 Hey guys, I am 18 years old I am aiming to become a police officer but I want to get some school in now to have on my record and take the right classes to look good for the future and becoming a cop. I graduated from high school and have some courses from Sofia but I want to go to Liberty University Online for my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies (Liberal Arts) or assuming that is the right move to take a lot of classes in Criminal Justice or Psychology, I'll take whatever advice. Your Location: NY USA Your Age: 18 What kind of degree do you want?: BS Interdisciplinary Studies Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: SOFIA COURSES Human Biology (HumBio1001 - 2022) - 3 credits Introduction to College Mathematics (MATH1020-2021) - 3 credits Introduction to Ethics (PHIL1002) - 3 credits Introduction to Statistics (STAT1001) - 3 credits Personal Finance (ECON1010 - 2024) - 3 credits U.S. Government (HIST1020) - 3 credits U.S. History I (HIST1001) - 3 credits Any certifications or military experience? No Budget - 10K Commitments - 30 hour work week Dedicated Time To Study - 30 Hours A Week Time is not an issue I have as much time as it needs Tuition Assistance - None RE: Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - Charles Fout - 10-15-2025 You may want to check and see if your local community college is able to satisfy your immediate goals Liberty University is AWESOME in every way RE: Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - bjcheung77 - 10-26-2025 My recommendation is to max your transfer to Liberty Online by completing the most Sophia.org and/or Study.com classes that go towards the degree you're looking at. For reference, your previous thread here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-17-years-old-BA-in-Criminal-Justice-Planning-Advice RE: Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - Kevin.B - 12-07-2025 (10-14-2025, 08:56 PM)madds_72 Wrote: Hey guys, I am 18 years old I am aiming to become a police officer but I want to get some school in now to have on my record and take the right classes to look good for the future and becoming a cop. I graduated from high school I earned my first degree in law enforcement. I have friends who got CJ degrees. A thought: get a degree in unrelated focus. If you want to be a LEO you'll learn everything you need in the academy and field training. Honestly, knowing what I know now, if I could do it over, I would have done my first degree in psychology, or maybe business admin. A different educational path may give you a unique perspective in your career and if you ever wanted to do something outside of LE (or a side hustle) you will have the education plus training to fall back on. Just my two cents RE: Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - LevelUP - 12-07-2025 (12-07-2025, 06:21 PM)Kevin.B Wrote:(10-14-2025, 08:56 PM)madds_72 Wrote: Hey guys, I am 18 years old I am aiming to become a police officer but I want to get some school in now to have on my record and take the right classes to look good for the future and becoming a cop. I graduated from high school I agree you don't need to major in CJ to go into law enforcement. If you go the UMPI route, you could major in business administration and add up to three minors, which could include criminal justice, psychology, political science, and more. RE: Looking for help BS from Liberty University Online - bjcheung77 - 12-11-2025 Another option is to do the BSLA at Excelsior since you're in NY and use the money left over towards a Masters at Liberty instead, or something along those lines. I would do the max transfer of 113 credits using Study.com and complete only the Info Lit, Cornerstone, Capstone... If you need a Study.com discount code, it's in my Bio and/or Signature. You also get a 20% discount on the tuition as well, if you use Study.com, here's the Excelsior transfer link: https://study.com/college/school/excelsior-college.html |
