How are transfer credits counted? - cljrmccoy - 10-22-2025

I'm hoping to transfer the 24 RA credits, but I'm curious how they count them. At my local CC, Eng 1A is a 4-unit course, but it looks like it's 3 at TESU. Will this count as 4 or 3 towards the 24? I will also be transferring in some 4-unit foreign language courses. Will those count as 4 or 3 towards the 24?

Thank you!

They will count as 4 credits.

Just wondering, is your college on the quarter credit system? It really depends on what your current institution uses...
If they're on the same system, you would be getting 4 credits. If you're on the quarter system, it's 2.66 or 2.67...

Similar question.  Do grades from RA credits transferred in affect your GPA, or is your GPA TESU classes only?

"How is my TESU GPA calculated?
Only grades earned at the University will be considered in the calculation of the official Thomas Edison State University GPA. Transfer grades will not be used in calculating the official TESU GPA." https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/current/undergraduate-catalog/university-policies-and-procedures/undergraduate-academic-policies/degree-policies/undergraduate-academic-standing-policy/undergraduate-academic-standing-faqs

When you apply for graduate school, they will look at your overall GPA.
