Saylor courses currently accepted at TESU? - JayKosmos - 10-28-2025
Who has used Saylor courses at TESU recently; which course(s) and how did TESU apply them?
In looking over the Wiki for Saylor acenet.edu for Saylor and Saylor's page about TESU ...
I am wondering how many Saylor courses TESU is still currently accepting and where they are applicable.
It seems Saylor has let ace recommendation for many courses lapse.
But that $5 price tag per exam has me wanting to take advantage of whatever Saylor has to offer.
(I know ultimately it's best to confirm with my advisor before taking the course. But I also know that some of them aren't up on all the courses accepted and their equivalence.)

l'd love to be able to take all three of the;
"CIV & GLOBAL LDRSHP Civic and Global Learning 9SH"
through Saylor and it seems like that used to be possible but I'm not sure.
It looks like their "World Geography" might still be accepted for;
"Diversity Intercultural Literacy 3SH Featured Course(s): SOC-1010 Our Changing World: An Introduction to Sociology; SOC-3220 Cultural Diversity in the US; GOG-2300 World Geography" ?
But do they have courses that are fulfilling the other two?
It looks like their "Business Ethics" course should still work right?
"Ethical Leadership 3SH Featured Course(s) ETH-2200 Leading the Way: A Path Towards Ethical Leadership"
It looks like "Introduction to Comparative Politics" used to work but is no longer available from Saylor. Anything else that fits here currently?
It looks like they still offer "American Government" but ace is no longer recommending credit for it?

They decided not to renew a bunch of their ACE recommendations recently. I assume it was because the courses were less popular and needed extensive updates. But I don't know that. Anyway, Comparative Politics and American Government were among the courses not renewed. I believe there is an American Government CLEP however. You could use the Saylor materials to prep for it and get a Modern States voucher to take the CLEP for free.

Yeah, I just really like the idea of being able to take the test at home for just $5.

There’s also an Introduction to Comparative Politics TECEP, and its test description notes the now-noncredit Saylor course as study material.

You can take CLEP tests at home with an online proctor. Modern States will reimburse you.
I feel like World Geography might only be worth one credit, but I might be thinking of Study.com's geography course.

FWIW, I love Saylor and share your disappointment that some of the old classes didn't get renewed. I managed to get Physics right under the deadline when I found out it was expiring earlier this year and thought it was a good course.

Saylor is a great option if you're strapped for cash and only looking at specific ones that are available and still ACE recommended for credit, otherwise, I would search for other options such as Study.com as they've got a College Saver option that's $95/month, 2 classes at a time, you have about 70 classes to select from for your general education and electives, plus a few in the major or minor.
