Westcliff Online Doctorates of IT, Computer Science, and Data Science - Jonathan Whatley - 12-15-2025

Westcliff University, a regionally accredited for-profit university based in Irvine, California with a mix of online and on-campus programs, offers a Doctor of Information Technology (DIT), Doctor of Computer Science (DCS), and Doctor of Data Science (DDSci) (the abbreviation DDS was already taken by the Doctor of Dental Surgery), each online.

Listed online tuition for each program starts at 780 per credit x 48 credits = 37 440. Students may take an additional 12 credits for a concentration: In the DIT, in Cloud Engineering, Applied Artificial Intelligence, or Big Data Analytics; in the DCS, in Cybersecurity, Cloud Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence, or in the DDSci, Big Data or Artificial Intelligence. Discounts may be available.

Additionally, Westcliff’s online Doctor of Business Administration is a minimum 60 credits and requires a concentration, and most concentrations offered are IT-related: Applied Computer Science, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Information Technology Management, or Web Development & Applications Management, or the one exception, Strategic Leadership for the 21st Century.

Actually, might be a typo, it's a DDSci and not a DDSc, not sure why they have the lower case ci in there, I would guess it was to distinguish the program between the DDS and the DDSci as mentioned earlier. Anyways, it seems like good programs if you can afford them. If they have partnerships like they do for the DBA and you can finish half the program with outside credits, I would go for them at half the price point... Furthermore, they have recently opened a campus in Toronto Canada!

You’re right, they list it as a DDSci not DDSc! I corrected my post.
